  1. Certainly not east of Toronto, he doesn't. Amazing to think back to the first year of Sappy, CVG headlined the BBQ in the parking lot at Strut's gallery!
  2. It's no Ottawa Bluesfest, but it really is incredible for a 2 stoplight town in New Brunswick. Now to buy an early bird ticket or wait and see about an artist pass...
  3. Really nice obit from the Vancouver Sun: http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Obit+Party+drummer+Devon+Clifford+bright+funny+individual+carved+path/2926124/story.html
  4. I don't have a link/source, but this press release was just sent my way... --- Celebrating its fifth anniversary, SappyFest announces The Sadies, The Felice Brothers, Holy Fuck, Chad Van Gaalen and Jim Guthrie as the first five acts confirmed for its 2010 line-up. The festival is offering 200 early bird passes for $50. SappyFest is a little independent music festival produced annually in partnership with the Ok.Quoi?! Arts Festival, Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre. The festival takes place July 30 - August 1, 2010, in Sackville, New Brunswick. Among the festival's first five confirmed acts is legendary Canadian psych-country band, The Sadies. The group's highly anticipated new album, Darker Circles (Outside Music), will be released on May 18. Coming to SappyFest via the Catskill Mountains is The Felice Brothers. The Team Love recording artists recently released the acclaimed, Yonder Stands the Clock, which the BBC heralded as the 2009 Country Album of the Year. Toronto's Holy Fuck will be performing at the festival in support of their forthcoming new album, Latin (XL). The group's previous effort, LP (XL), was nominated for Polaris Prize. Also a former Polaris nominee, Chad Van Gaalen will be returning to perform at this year's SappyFest. The Flemish Eye/Sub Pop recording artist's last release, Soft Airplane, was called "an intimate, intelligent, and always transporting cycle of songs..." by Pitchfork Media. The final confirmed act is acclaimed singer/songwriter and former Royal City member, Jim Guthrie. Guthrie released his Juno nominated solo album, Now More Than Ever (Ba Da Bing Records) in 2003. Since then, he has dedicated much of his time performing with renowned acts Human Highway and Islands. SappyFest will release more details on the 2010 festival within the coming weeks. SappyFest early bird passes are available at all Ticketpro outlets. To purchase tickets online, visit: http://ww3.ticketpro.ca/pos.php
  5. To clarify my comment, the refereeing has been atrocious in this series - in general and going both ways - and in no way, shape or form was I "blaming the refs". There are plenty of other series that should be complaining about officiating as well. This is the worst start to the playoffs in that respect in recent memory. Kev, you really need to stop listening to Don Cherry, Glenn Healey or whoever you're getting this garbage from. "NHL Referee Conspiracy that is formed against the Sens" - wtf are you even talking about? You're the only guy that has ever talked about conspiracy theories around here.
  6. So the Sharks have now scored in three straight OT games, har har.
  7. That was an abomination of a hockey game. The officiating was atrocious, the goaltending was worse. The Sens weren't playing too badly until that Speeza turn-over completely deflated the team and it was 4-0 a blink-of-the-eye later.
  8. What's with the 6:30 puck drop in Detroit on a weeknight? Edit to add: Sounds like Shane Doan is out for tonight.
  9. You know it's bad when you turn to Cheechoo. (just wanted to beat you guys to the punch)
  10. The rip that's circulating is really poor quality. I'll give this album another chance when I have a legit version, but my first impression is this is terrible.
  11. That Drew Doughty ain't bad, eh?
  12. The Sharks finding new ways to shit the bed in the playoffs is a rite of spring.
  13. haha, Dean Brown with a perfectly executed "SCRAMBLE" call. Bruins-Sabres has turned nasty!
  14. The Sens depth is exposed big time playing a top team like Pitts. Every time they give Crosby or Malkin an inch they get burned. The special teams have played outstanding though. They need to be much better 5 on 5 and need Elliott to come up big or this is going to be over quickly.
  15. You know it's bad when you turn to Price.
  16. Upon further review, the 'nucks really got jobbed on that too many men call in OT. Bieksa was cut and trying to get off when it hit him. Boo. Too many terrible calls through the first weekend... All series at 1-1!
  17. Seriously though, big props to Les Brahs for outplaying the Caps for 2 games. We all knew Halak could steal a game, but I underestimated what this team was capable of. Good thing the Capitals dealt for Corvo (disaster in his own end) and Walker (healthy scratch) instead of a goalie on deadline day. Ovie, Semin and Green better take a close look at how Backstrom is playing and quit trying to do things themselves.
  18. Kopitar + 3 on 1 = ridiculous
  19. Oh man, is there any hope for Willie Mitchell coming back?? Alberts is going to sink the Canucks if he stays in the lineup, he's so incredibly out of his league.
  20. Proof once again that Habs fans are stupid. You could have been watching on RDS (and not understanding the biggest homer broadcast crew going), but instead you chose TSN. I blame Booche.
  21. I'm no expert at embedding, but hopefully you can see this clip.
  22. Avs Sharks just went crazy too.
