  1. I asked Booche the same question via email. So you mortgage the future to get Pronger to 'win now', then you decide you'll ride Michael Leighton to the playoffs? I'm stilling trying to figure out what Washington was trying to do yesterday. Joe Corvo? That’s puzzling. They don’t need any more offense from blueline (hi Mike Green) and Corvo is trainwreck in his own end.
  2. Here's something to discuss - the Calgary Flames, what are they thinking? Unload Phaneuf’s contract Unload Jokinen’s expiring contract Sign Stajan for $3.5M x four years Take on Kotalik at $3M for two more years Take on Hagman at $3M for two more years Take on Steve Staios at $2.7M for one more year Re-sign Rene Bourque for $3.3M for long-term Add an expensive back-up goalie for the rest of this season So much for those trades to clear cap room. Your cap situation is fucked for the next few years and your team still sucks. Tell me if I'm missing something.
  3. Yeah, there's some quirk in the rules about late-season UFA signings that they have to pass through waivers after being signed. NYI signed Wade Dubliewicz (sp?) late last season and then Columbus snatched him off of waivers before he joined the team.
  4. Phaneuf and Kovalchuk disagree with you.
  5. You guys should read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Arrow_%28song%29 . The Mr Soul verse is part of the recorded version of the song. They've been doing Broken Arrow like that basically every night this tour.
  6. Yeah Pronger played a great game yesterday, lead the team in ice time.
  7. Kudos to the US on a great tournament. It was a real changing of the guard for that team, they brought the youngest team in the tourney. I expect they can only get better in 4 years.
  8. USA is built well to play Canada in that they actually have a top 6 and a bottom 6. And they get last change this afternoon. I think it all comes down to if Canada can expose the young US defence. They've been relying heavily on Suter, Johnson and Johnson and they've been solid but not spectacular. But Miller's bailed them out when he's had to.
  9. Note that we ignored your first post too, douchebonnet.
  10. WTF was that? Glad I raced home to catch that first period. Vikingstad!
  11. The best part was when Ollie accused Booche of grandstanding in a thread about grandstanding.
  12. Weak wristshots, tripping penalties, mustaches.
  13. The team is a fucking disgrace imo. Did you see the celebrations after scoring goals 11, 12, 13 on Sweden? Cigars and booze on the ice? If this was any other country pulling this shit (imagine it was the Russian Men's team?), most of you would be up in arms. And Don Cherry would be having a coronary. Way to win that medal in a one and a half horse race. Stay classy bitches.
  14. You may have heard of a guy named Pavel Datsyuk. He's won the Selke twice.
  15. The thing about Russia is, historically they've never matched lines well or even tried to get away from match-ups. I don't know if it's an ego thing or what, but they hang their best players out to dry. Mind you, their skill is so great that sometimes it doesn't matter. The half KHL thing (which was ego/politically driven) clearly didn't work. And their lack of depth and speed at D was exposed.
  16. It's nice to be able to gloat a bit today, being one of the seemingly few who thought Canada looked dominant against the US. But let's be honest here, no one could have expected the Russians to lay an egg like they did last night. I'm disappointed we don't get to see Sweden in the semis, but these should be a couple of good games again on Friday. I can't get a read on this Slovakia team (other than Halak)... they don't look great, almost lose to Norway, but beat Russia and Sweden.
  17. Nice little goalie battle going on right now between Vokoun and Kipper.
  18. I hope this start is an indication of what's to come in the next 10 or so hours straight of hockey. Amazing pace to USA-Switz so far!
  19. You? Not pay attention to all the details??
  20. haha, no problem! What I said was the Russia semi-final was originally scheduled for midnight and I wondered if they'd change it if/when Canada beat Germany.
  21. I had to laugh (and groin) at Eklund's headline today: "AO! CANADA GO!" I think all the quarterfinals have the potential to be great games today. Both Czech and Finland have slightly underachieved so far, hope I can stay awake long enough for that one and PVR Sweden-Slovakia.
  22. Roll Call - Surprised to hear that Ollie watched the hockey game and not American Idol? 1 - me
