  9. who the hell is Neutral Milk Hotel? couldn't agree more about STP and The Smiths, but I actually like Sugar better than Hüsker Dü and I think a Talking Heads reunion would be like watching nails on a blackboard. ive grown to dislike how badly byrne treated the others, and have lost a lot of respect for the man, genius that he is.
  10. LOL, indirectly snuck the fact in that it's not actually true, eh, Kev?

  12. thanks guys - some interesting reading. i actually use toothpaste and, as strange as it sounds, it works. i would never want to use hydrogen peroxide on my animals (or myself for that matter) out of fear of severely burning their eyes and skin - although it is an effective treatment. toothpaste is recommended by people I know at Ontario Veterinary College at UGuelph because it actually emulsifies the skunk oil and allows it to be rinsed off the hair AND its non-toxic, for them and me. just lather up with white (not gel) tootpaste and wash and rinse a couple of times. most shampoos either simply mask the smell temporarily or rinse off most, but not all, of the oil. toothpaste removes virtually 100% of the oil. regardless, not a fun thing to do on a friday night.
  13. got sprayed by a skunk last night ... again. what a huge hassle that was, is, and will continue to be for weeks. ugh. twice now for the cat and twice before for the dog. im actually getting good at this clean-up deal, but its never fun.
  14. other people (ahem) routinely do 110kph to 130kph on hwy 6 between hamilton and guelph where the limit is an impossibily slow 80kph, so going 50kph over the limit isn't all that out of the question. i just hope im not the test case - but ah, ... think of the street cred i'd have ...
  15. #255 Songs about going to a show (concert) as a performer. 1. ACDC - It's a long way to the top(If You Wanna Rock and Roll) 2. Jackson Browne - The Load-Out 3. Queen - Let Me Entertain You (featuring Freddie Mercury, the best male rock and roll singer of all time) 4. 13 Days - J.J. Cale 5. Woodstock - Joni Mitchell 6. Grand Funk Railroad - We're an American Band 7. The Who - Long Live Rock 8. Billy Joel - Piano Man 9. 10. 11. 12. [color:purple]and dont think I will forget you bastards cutting me off the last list ... as much as I stole the track from AD, I do think that Free IS the only song the masses would ever have heard of Phish on the radio, AND its way too poppy to be "representative" of the band.
  16. I'd say one of the following: Bouncing Around The Room Simple Contact Free - wasn't that Phish's only charting single? That would be my pick. good pick ... #254: But that's not what they sound like: Songs widely associated with a given artist that aren't an accurate representation of the artist's overall sound. 1. Blind Melon - No Rain 2. White Stripes - Little Ghost 3. Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry Be Happy 4. The Gourds - Gin & Juice 5. Led Zeppelin - Hot Dog 6. The Grateful Dead - Touch Of Grey 7. Stevie Wonder - I just called to say I love you 8. Genesis - I Can't Dance 9. Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage 10. Phish - Free 11. 12. ... gretzky waits in front of the net, kurri passes, gretzky scores! ...
  17. hey, isnt the greatful dead a heavy metal band? i mean, they have skulls and shit.
  18. loads more than with carouselambra. fwiw, hot dog is clearly the best song on that album fool in the rain? hah! i love the "albums" that provoke arguments. edit to add: what's the Phish equivalent of Touch of Grey?
  19. radio ga ga is a guilty pleasure for me. it was a controversial song because it was seen by many as a huge, poppy, commercial sell-out by the band, complete with a slick number one video on MTV. this was right at a time (1984) when no "good" music was being made by anyone, and radio was dominated by brit-pap. they lost a lot of "purist" fans when they released it who mocked it as radio ca ca (ironically, the original title).
  20. personally, I think Who Wants to Live Forever and The Show Must Go On are weak tracks, although they are regarded by many as emotionally strong because of Freddie's battle with AIDS (during, and especially after). Love of my Life is a great tune, as is You're my Best Friend, also on A Night at the Opera, which, of course, has a little song called Bohemian Rhapsody. Somebody to Love is a really emotional tune that features Freddie's incredible vocal range. I'd put A Night at The Opera, A Day at the Races and News of The World up there as perhaps the best set of three (sequential) Queen albums. Each has a number of emotional songs, often overlooked because of chart topping anthems like We Will Rock You. My favourite Queen album is actually The Game, followed closely by News of the World. I think Save Me on The Game is the most emotional tune that they put out, but im partial to ballads written by Brian May. But Queen is like the Beatles in that there are so many songs, and your thoughts about each can be very personal. And having grown up with Queen and having seen them live, Im sure I have a different way of looking at them than perhaps younger skanks.
  21. GASP! Please place your laptop on your nose and go sit in the corner, and think about what you just said.
  22. i wont disagree with robert palmer. secrets and clues are brilliant albums and johnny and mary is one of the best new wave songs ever released. the only legitimate knock against palmer perhaps is that he was too smooth, if that makes sense. it was a very sad shock when he died.
