  1. great style too. "oh come on, you know that's bull. tell us what really happened." was great to watch him in action.
  2. i dont want to be the defender of assholedom here, but in the scheme of things, this guy wasnt that bad and his antics seem to have taken on mythical proportions. sure, he got there late. was drunk. rustled about until he got into his seat, but then only called out two or three times after that. in total, there were at least 10 others who called out something or other. i actually think the woman who (very politely) asked ryan to turn up the lights early in the show turned him off more. the room had a very uncomfortable funeral/church-like tension that didnt need to be there and ryan adams did nothing to lighten the mood. personally, I dont blame the guy, or anyone else, who called out anything. it was a rock concert afterall, not a memorial service. all that said, i did love the show. but let's be honest ... ryan adams is simply going to have to deal with people calling out 'sylvia plath' at massey hall because it's going to happen.
  3. I'll be there for the whole weekend - archiving it. Im especially looking forward to Martin Sexton tonight and Ronny Sexsmith and Ani Difranco on Sunday. But as Ive said before, the best thing about Hillside is stumbling upon an unknown artist and being blown away. And the food too.
  4. I know what I'll be listening to on my way to and fro' Hillside this weekend!
  5. Feist is ... in a word ... boring live. That's not to say she isn't a great singer songwriter - she is. Personally, I think she has one of the nicest voices I have ever heard. She gets regular rotation at my place. It's just that her music doesn't tranlaste very well in a live "performance".
  6. oh, you probably did, Kev ... [color:purple]I dont actually read your posts
  7. saw them at the phoenix in toronto in may. they were indeed a band. was a fun show, but not worthy of top 20 status.
  8. i thot that too, so I couldnt understand why he dropped an octave on a few tunes. it wasnt like he couldnt hit the high notes, because he did on other tunes. overall, a solid 8 1/2 for me. invisible sun was the highlight for me. i dig dark police. im really glad i went, even if we did help pay for sting's new gold plated yoga mat.
  9. some relatives are just so uptight just make sure to liquor them all up before you haul out the bachelor party stories
  10. relate their college-era sexual escapades ... that always goes over well with grandparents.
  11. what the hell is a gelaskin? sounds naughty.
  12. some might muse at the implication that Phish was the new Dead, just as much as some might laugh at the suggestion that X is the new Phish ... its all relative, and very subjective. i first saw Phish before they exploded, and naturally compared them to the Dead. kinda the same, but way different. sure, something else may come along that provides us with a similar sort of experience but who knows what form it would take. the Dead and Phish were what they were - whatever that was for you, and you, and him, and her, and them, and us and me. just like the songs themselves, the ride was a personal journey for each of us. Im just glad I had a seat on the bus for a bit.
  13. slip forum please very cool pics, blane. must be fascinating to be there.
  14. i thot courtney love killed him ...
  15. I have the same sort of problem when using the touchpad on a laptop I have. the cursor "snaps" over to the edge of the screen sometimes. i always assumed it was either the way I am touching the pad or it's a gremlin, and I just live with it.
