  1. just how far is the ghost town from ottawa, anyone? i can't find the town using online mapping. i think someone told me it was about 8 hours (which is too far) but just checking, i'm not sure.
  2. this all may be true...i've only been in o-town a couple years. but if you come to a john henrys show there's always lots of people givin'er and dancing it up and having a great old time.
  3. this looks interesting, definitely something to consider if it works out! thanks AM
  4. you guys are making me want to pick up a few more of his CDs. sweet!
  5. i think this is quite useful info (for somebody out there) actually...that a large number of users do not look at the pinned posts. strange but true!
  6. to answer brad - i bet a roll call would have informed a few more people, but not tons. myself i often don't read the board on the weekend so would only notice that if posted on friday.
  7. ok...not sure how that makes me sensitive? internet weirdness i guess. hehe [color:purple]sorry, you're right, nobody was bashing ottawa in this thread at all
  8. i'm not offended, or sensitive, how did you read that? i'm just talking as well.
  9. also, DD and CJ are band that never play here. no surprise less peeps came as in KW or wherever they always play. if you count all the ottawa people on this board, a lot of those people were there. though arriving quite late i saw 20 people there i knew i'm sure. it takes OTHER people as well besides this board to fill a bar. i did try to rally some peeps into partyin! anyway, i am sorry that it wasn't full and i don't blame the bands if they stick to towns they do well in, but i will try to see them again another time!
  10. as mooose mentioned earlier, i usually ignore the pinned threads. and even though it was pinned, it doesn't look like anyone was really posting in it. if nobody talks, people don't get hyped. people aren't always on the board. but continue ottawa bashing if you must!
  11. i didn't even realize this show was happening until velvet mentioned it to me last week. if nobody talks about a show or does promo, people can't plan ahead for it.
  12. i'm really glad i made it in time for some of caution jam, which was fun. very sorry to have missed diesel dog though, as i was hoping to see them too! but after being plied with (large amounts of) delicious food and bevvies all evening - a giant grilled pork chop, pre-brined with cinnamon and other spices (is there any other way? ), absolutely amazing farfalle primavera in a red wine vinagrette, and fresh spinach greens with strawberries, After-8 shooters and other yummies, didn't quite get there on time. hehe i posted like bouche! i guess i'll have to see diesel dog sometime this summer. thanks to all for coming to ottawa! how could i have forgotten the plum compote?
  13. We'll get em next year!
  14. i guess i'm a big younger, as my first theatre movie was empire strikes back. i was about 5 i guess. but we'd gone blueberry picking beforehand and i'd eaten pretty much all the blueberrys i'd picked along the way. combined with a mcD's hamburger for lunch and so all i remember from the movies was darth vader and puking blueberries up outside. good times.
  15. edger i have a hard time understanding your posts for all the buzzwordage!
  16. i think all the stuff you said before was true howler and didn't seem at all nasty, just informative. i totally agree that moms should not be judged one way or the other!
  17. hehe yeah maybe not... then again, they'd just be such GREAT people to work with! i gotta get out of this thread...i get mad when i think about the border.
  18. but did they personally demean you, swear at you, call you names, insult your intelligence, call you a liar, and/or destroy your belongings during this?
  19. well you really should be a border guard AD, sounds like.
  20. hehe...no i can't imagine that would work out to well for ya! regardless, i'm not even trying to say that other countries just let you breeze in (though some might). in other countries, i've had to jump through hoops, been made to wait hours, plenty of stuff. but the officers were not purposefully mean and it was dignified. i've never been treated like complete garbage the way the US guys do.
  21. hmmm.... i dunno if it's that simple SF. i was formula fed from the get go and was a very healthy baby, infant, kid, adult, etc. my niece and nephew however, were breastfed and they are constantly getting ear infections, colds, etc.
  22. hey remember when we made that list of all the countries we had been to collectively? there was a couple hundred countries on that list. my question to all....have you ever been treated REALLY badly by customs officers in other foreign countries? i know customs are there for a reason, that's completely obvious. but they DON'T have to be assholes. myself, i have been to probably 30 countries and i have NEVER been treated ONCE the way i have been CONSISTENTLY shittily treated at the US border, for no reason. there is a reason why US border guards have a bad name and rep. cuz it's true. i don't buy that 'the poor guys are just doing their job' bullshit one bit. /rant!
  23. cuz they're NOT! they are warped (mostly).
