  1. Wow, anyone hear about this one? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Rinku-and-Dinesh-sign-with-Pittsburgh-make-MLB-;_ylt=ArkMiWDz_cwrq8s.z1aY6Qs5nYcB?urn=mlb,124485 (yes, I changed the name of the thread)
  2. A good friend of mine's little boy (happens to be white) was just diagnosed with CF...can you imagine the feeling of hearing this on the news if you were my friend? Disgusting.
  3. I'll take a five minute major for hitting from behind.
  4. Inlight of the new info surrounding Burke, it appears he may have had something to do with the deal afterall.
  5. That's true, but work is slow these days so I basically get paid to read the internet. And Cox seems to get three articles a day in the Star on the Leafs. Plus, I like me a good rant.
  6. Well there you have it, Cox jumped the gun in his first article, failing to realize the intricies of signing a deal I suppose. Sorry Damien, that it wasnt done as quickly as you would have liked. Cox wrote in above article: "Theoretically, Burke could have signed a deal Sunday or Monday, but is now committed to stay in the Boston-area with his family through his daughter's bridal shower on Friday."
  7. Ad and Booche: I just dont get Cox's agenda these days. Grabovsky and Hagman can 'play' and they're young. Stajan is coming into his own with the increased work load and he's living up to offensive expectations. Antropov is staying healthy and is a well respected contributer. While their defence has been suspect, they havent been aweful if you look at the shots for and against game in game out. I'd say Toskala has been the biggest reason for a lot of their losses this year - he's been aweful. They are building a core group that gives much more hope for the future than in recent years. Im not saying their team is playoff bound or anything, but at least they seems to be heading in the right direction. They are still a few major moves away from being a contender, but at least there's a glimmer of hope. Cox seems hell-bent on stifling that hope, but all he seems to offer in the way of suggestion is "trade for draft picks". Aside from a couple of "diamonds in the rough" that come out of each class, your not guaranteed anything more than picking up more Steens in the draft. To me it seems like fletcher is putting together a team of young guys with skill to put the puck in the net, which is a lot better than anyone has tried to do in recent years. Also, no one around here was expecting anything different form the Leafs this year, but Cox seems to make it a point day in day out to point out that Leaf fans are expecting a cup and that he's the only one in the entire North America who sees it for what it is, and he's wrong in that assumption. He may be right about the Burke situation, but my innitial comment wasnt really about that, it was about Cox in general.
  8. Think he got any sleep last night? Ouch.
  9. I was just thinking the same thing, haha.
  10. Honestly, Im surprised the Leafs found any takers for those two.
  11. I think this is a good trade. Carlo and Steen are both useless, and Stempniak will fit in as another small, speedy forward.
  12. I thought I made that clear a long time ago? This is where my whole complex of being a Leaf/Habs fan comes from. I lay blame solely on you guys! That aaaaaand, Clark was good, but he was never "one of the best all-time" good. MAin course served first tonight. But, this isnt about me. My opinion of the ceremony was that it was about as good as it was gonna be. I think Roy addressed the underlying emotions of the night when he said (to paraphrase) "I left a little too soon, without saying goodbye..." That, and he's not really a cry baby to begin with. But, to quote Newrider, I dont know, I drink.
  13. Wendel came pre Leaf-Sens rivalry - could care less about the leafs back then. Wendell takes a back seat to Roy in this case. Plus, I needed a smoke badly after Roy's speech. Then I got to talking with one of my neighbours about how great he was (roy, not the neighbour) and I missed it. I'll youtube it later, maybe after beer 9.
  14. Leave it to SENS fans to poop on that parade! Im all fuckin wound up right now, totally inspired!! I need to go play hockey, or run a marathon or something...good thing I have beers!
  15. Its getting close to the ceremony, not sure if the CBC is going to cover it down here, but you can watch it here: http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?id=26110&catid=616
  16. At home, no less! Man, I dont know how they're gonna rebound (pun un-intended, but after review, pun stands!) after this one.
  17. The Raps have no balls. There, I said it, someone had to say it. Carter still bitchslapping them after all these years is ugly AND embarassing...
  18. I thought Del went to the store to get smokes?
  19. That's freakin awesome Tim!! Congrats!
