  1. PHEW.... when I first glanced at this thread I thought it said "Femi Kuti Dies"... This is better...
  2. The Herbaliser Live in Paris is a wonderful compact disc which you can purchase at the show for $15...It is a soundboard recording of their show at Le Trabendo on June 12th 2008...It is making me very happy...
  3. ....saw the toronto show last night... ........freaking AMAZING....... can't stop listening to the Live in Paris CD.... Saturday is going to be freaking AMAZING!
  4. Fixed means my bike only has one fixed gear...which means it doesn't coast... I'm Chris...Kat's boyfriend...Actually, Kat and I are doing the 25km Toronto Zoo route of the Greenbelt ride as well the week before before we go to Drumbo on the 20th... I don't know whether or not Tigger is doing this ride, but he was a participant in this thread and it would be fun if he was there...
  5. BTW: If you're smoking en route and you're accompanied by other smokers, expect an average speed of about 20 kph once you factor in all the laying around and staring at the clouds and snacking... Def. gonna be the funnest group on the shuttle bus back to Burlington...
  6. I'm doing the Burlington to St. Catherine's ride on my fixed with a few Kitchener buds... All we Kitchener folks should carpool... I've gotta upgrade Tigger's shifters before his bike is fit for such an undertaking...I think I was supposed to call him last night about that but I was too demoed from Cheech and Chong on Saturday...

    Dexter

When the voice in Dexter's head said "don't kill your sister" in season two, I think the bulk of the audience was shouting back "DO IT!!!!"... I found the Doakes character to be the sister's equal in the poorly written/acted dept... Hopefully there'll be a season 3....

  9. My attorney has asked me to update my previous post and inform you all that the drugs I'm on are caffeine and aspirin... I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS SET FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS STRAIGHT!!!...It's both entertaining and humbling at the same time...I wish I could afford to actually purchase the discs since the packaging is so wicked... Oh well... It's not like Miles needs the royalty cheque where he is...
  10. While you're at it, pick up Spiritualized's 2006 album Friendly Fire... I got it on the recommendation of Pierre from the Rotate This website and it's excellent as well...
  11. Just waiting 200 minutes to download the last .RAR! THANKS FOR THIS! I didn't realize that the album was recorded, mixed, pressed and released in only a month... Amazing... On the Corner is one of my top 10 albums of all time... It makes me feel like I'm on drugs... Wait... I am on drugs...
  12. Are they going to actually show up this time or is it going to be "high life festival" part 2?
  13. P.S...When he was behind the kit, Mike D looked exactly like Ricky Neu from Diesel Dog with an afro wig and a three button suit on...
  14. We also attended the gala (dressed ULTRA-slick, I may add) at the Hummingbird Center with ALMOST as good a vantage point as Allison (row H) and I would agree with her review of the show... The sound was BEAUTIFUL and the whole gala idea was a fun way to get the audience involved... The band was way tighter than I thought they'd be...Alfredo Ortiz and Money Mark's contributions on percussion and keys were a huge part of why the instrumental selections worked so well live...The instrumental stuff was so good, I would have been happy if they didn't play a "hit" the whole show... We walked away feeling as though we were part of a really special night...
  15. The Herbaliser is TOTALLY a headliner...With or without a band...We're going entirely because of him... We've seen Wassabi a couple of times this year already so I'm not sure if we'll bother with them this time... This is going to be a great night...
  16. Over my last three years of owning an ipod, I've learned that some people just shouldn't have a portable electronic device with any moving parts in it whatsoever...As it turns out, I am one of those people...I've had hard drive probs with my 4G...Oddly enough if I crack open the case using guitar picks, unplug the HD and shake it, then put it all back together again, the problem is solved...At least the 4G was an easy iPod to crack open...Also, I had to replace the battery on my ipod a year and a half ago and now the replacement battery is starting to poop out too (it only gets about six hours life on a full charge)... I was kind of let down that there wasn't a new higher capacity nano announced at the big press conference this week...I would have been more excited about a 16GB nano without video capability than an 8GB nano with video... The iPod that looks like an iPhone without the ability to actually phone anyone is kind of neat looking though I've never had great success with touchscreens...I wonder if it'll fit inside my Matias Ipod Armor case... I'm also thinking that there is a lot of competition in the mp3 player market now and maybe I should be looking to another company if I want a flash based music player...In essence, most of the internal components are the same on all mp3 players regardless of who's logo is on the box...It would be nice to have a player that integrates better with Windows... Hmmmm.... Maybe I should just make Willy an offer on his old 60GB model...At least I know I could take it apart easily when it gave me problems...
  17. Dave Clark from the Dave Clark 5?...He wasn't a drummer was he?... I kid... If anyone's got a hookup for some free Woodchopper downloads that feature wonderful percussion music, Waterloo's community radio community will be oh...SO grateful...
  18. Xavier Rudd....OF COURSE!!!... I inexplicably didn't think of him but that's PERFECT! Thankx Tungsten!
  19. Mr.Something Something=PERFECT! THANX BOILER RAT! Only an hour left to fill... HELP!
  20. Thanks for the input so far!... Specifically, we're looking for songs or performances by Canadian percussionists...This can be any genre from classical to jazz to rock to marching percussion to latin percussion to hand percussion to a bunch of guys hammering stuff with hockey sticks...Right now we only have maybe four things...YYZ(of course)...Fungus Amongus by Manteca...Meatroll by Diesel Dog...and a Wassabi Collective tune from an out of print CD from back when they featured mallet percussion... Great music featuring great percussion performances by great Canadians...
  21. Neither the size of the name nor the genre of music are an issue...We're just looking for great recorded percussion... BTW this is for a community radio show on CKMS 110.3 from Waterloo, Ontario called "the First Sound" which is loosely about world percussion... Well... Canada's part of the world... Is it percussion?... Is it free for us to download?... Is it Canadian?... That's what we're looking for... Thanks for the suggestions Bouche!... I'm checking out the links right now.
  22. We are producing a one and a half hour radio show featuring Canadian percussionists... Ummmm.... Neil Peart... Ricky Neu... Who else?.... Any suggestions?...
  23. Hey Tim! I've already said Happy Birthday in a Facebook message, now I'm saying it here...Next, I'm planning to PM you on Oink and I believe I'll finish it off with an email directly to you via good(?) old fashioned Outlook Express... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!
