  3. I'd say it means he had a sense of humor.

  5. As some folks here know I'm a Gourds fanatic & finding video of them isn't that easy (aside from Google video & Youtube), so I'm pumped to check this out. I've already setup my DVD recorder.. 11. Why couldn't these shows, as well the NYE shows going on around Ontario (or else where) be added to the calendar? [color:purple]Or is it just a Slip calendar?
  12. Someone posted on that site what I posted here, word for word at that.

Happy b-day bro. I heard the messages this morning from Lazlo, unfortunately I was out cold when ya'll called. Sorry I couldn't make it. Have a blast tonight.
  14. Cheers Steve that is good news & hope, I'm going be in that area today or tomorrow as it is. Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to stop by there.
  15. Cheers StoneMtn. Pumpkinhead I've heard of the freezer trick but I don't think I wanna try that just yet. I have some recovery software ( http://www.runtime.org/ ) which I am going to try in the next few days, once I grab my 500 GB external. If you have a different app, I might be interested if mine doesn't work, thanks. Thanks phishtaper, I'll check that place out, I have a lead already I'm checking into but I'll keep that in mind. bouche, As mentioned in my first post, I've already slaved it into another computer to no avail. I know what the error is, its not physical. And with HDDs so cheap as it is, no need for ebay, but thanks.
  16. The other week my 360 GB HDD suddenly stopped working and after trying numerous different recovery programs, repair discs & even slaving it in another computer all to no avail, I finally got my hands on the HDD manufacturer's diagostic disc/tool & found I have a bad sector and the error code issued says its an "uncorrectable data error" so from my research online there isn't much I can do myself, but I had read that it may be possible using a recovery service. I have alot of stuff on that damn drive I don't want to lose - 110 GB of live music DVD, 75 GB FLAC/SHN shows & 60 GB of mp3, not to mention a shitload of unfinished Fatties shows (15GB maybe) which I don't have copies of anymore. Whats worse is I'm gettin my 500GB external for xmas & was planning to do the back-up then..argh. So, does anyone know of any places in Hamilton or Toronto that do data recovery for hard drives? I imagine I'm shit out of luck, but I have to try.
  17. True? How so? Seemed like a phenomenon then' date=' so wouldn't it be pretty phenomenal if it happened now? Phenomenal as in occurring outside of all regular weather. Did the people then say that they believed that this big freeze was ushering in a global cooling trend? All I am saying is it is a pretty large jump from this phenom to Chameleon's statement about how if climate change wasn't occurring this 1911 freeze would happen today. Usher in ohhh dear climate change is gonna get us feelings based on loose assumption. Truthiness. Deeps[/quote'] Actually I was only wondering how you came to the conclusion his comment was "apparently false". [edit to add] Everyone has their opinions I guess, some may feel, like yourself it happened as phenomenon, some because of lower global temps & some like myself, because there wasn't the ice boom yet. If there wasn't the ice boom I'd agree with The Chameleon. I'm not disagreeing with him either.
  18. If thats how I come across when I post, then I apologise. When my union hall sent me to work there in 1994, the very first question I asked when taking the job-site tour was why the falls don't freeze. That was a question I wondered since I was a kid, apparently not alot of people have I guess. I wasn't trying to correct The Chameleon, but global warming or no global warming the ice boom would stop the falls from freezing, thats why it was constructed. As for the rest of it, well, its sorta obvious I surfed the web for the info I linked to isn't it?
  19. Cheers, after working in that hydro plant for six months its good to know I retained something. LOL Also, when looking for a picture of the 'ice boom', I found this out, according to http://www.niagarafallslive.com , 1912 is when the ice bridge formed, but that was from below the falls. The picture above is from March 29th 1848, which they also have on their site. I've seen both dates (1848 & 1911) used for this picture. but I'd have to dig up the literature we recieved when working there to be sure which is right. Anyway, this is from that site..
  20. You will never see that again because of the 'ice boom', thats what keeps the river & the falls from clogging up with ice. It's required to keep the intakes for the hydro plant sufficient. Before the 'ice boom' when the river froze, ice would clog the flow in turn reducing the amount of water that goes over the falls which would allow it to freeze.
