Apparently KPIX in San Francisco has been sitting on a 26-minute VHS tape interview with the late, great Jerry Garcia which never aired. As they tell us, "The Grateful Dead singer sat down with reporter Kate Kelly for the rare interview at the band’s studio on Front Street in San Rafael, where he talked about their first music video for the hit single 'Touch of Grey,' a modest success in 'the big world of grown up records.'"

The interview opens with Garcia talking about the impending reopening of The Fillmore Auditorium, which he says feels incredibly "small" now that he hadn't set foot in it in many years. But, he said, it was going to function like a big club. (What ended up happening was that it was only open for about year before sustaining damage in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and then it would not reopen again until after promoter Bill Graham's death, finally re-reopening with a surprise show by the Smashing Pumpkins on April 27, 1994. Incidentally, that was just two weeks after the death of Kurt Cobain.)

Garcia would ultimately pass away in 1995, suffering a heart attack while staying in a rehab facility.

But here you can see him in the studio, smoking cigarettes, and talking casually about his legacy.

This comes just months before the remaining members of the Dead will reunite for a series of five farewell shows to mark the band's 50th anniversary. The first two shows will be here, at Levi's Stadium, on June 27 and 28. Then they'll go to Chicago to play three more dates over the July 4th weekend at Soldier Field.

The Other One: The Long Strange Trip of Bob Weir will hit Netflix on May 22 and now, the official trailer has arrived. The Mike Fleiss-directed documentary traces Weir's life journey from Palo Alto, CA to rising to stardom with the Grateful Dead as a 16-year old, all with commentary from the guitarist himself along the way.

Among those slated to appear in the film are Weir's Grateful Dead bandmates, other musical collaborators and acquaintances. In the trailer, Weir also speaks about his connection with Jerry Garcia, saying, "They say blood is thicker than water. What we had was thicker than blood." Sammy Hagar also has an interesting quote on Weir, saying, "If you don't have an ego, you can be the best number two on the planet and that's kinda what Bob became. It makes him special."

Watch the full trailer below and watch the film on May 22 on Netflix.

Recently, Prince invited a number of guests to his Paisley Park for a "Dance Rally 4 Peace." The surprise concert was revealed via social media, and those in attendance were asked to wear gray in solidarity with Freddie Gray, who was allegedly killed in police custody.

Now, Prince has made the full soundboard recording of the event available via SoundCloud. The concert includes tracks like “Chaos & Disorder," “Dreamer," Crimson & Clover," “Guitar," “PLECTRUMELECTRUM.” and The Waterboys’ “The Whole of the Moon” with Prince playing bass.

    Enjoy the show below:

  5. Yeah, I meant to mention that as well. Depending on your router speed, CAT 6 would serve the purpose, though I imagine wherever you pick it up would know the best option. I had suggested that to my buddy, but he was set on returning the cables afterwards so thats why he went with what he did.

I'll get in touch regarding coming up once I know better what's going on for me during july. It has been quite awhile that's for sure.

  6. Can't help with most of what you are asking about, but I do have a suggestion.

I went to a party last summer at a friends place who was doing something similar (not music related, but sports). The weekend beforehand we were playing around with different setups to assure the least issues with his wifi - he bought a new, rather expensive router but still (due to distance) had issues with dropped connection, stuttering etc. He bought a rangebooster (again, a high end one) but still experienced pretty much the same issues.

What we ended doing was (though might not be optimal for your place) was just buy a few 50 & 100 foot ethernet cables and ran them out to his set up. It was ~700 feet, give or take. Perhaps not the prettiest set up, but in the end there was no dropped connections or other issues and it cost a lot less then the booster and router (which he simply returned). I don't know the distance, terrain or obstacles at your place you would have to deal with so as I said, it may not be an optimal option for you. (I think I have one or two of the 50 footers kicking around still)

I sent off an email to him asking what his set up was again. I want to say he was using a laptop, but I can't recall exactly.

Depending on my schedule I'd be up to coming and watching it (would love to watch it outdoors). My buddy George & his girlfriend may be up for making the journey with me too, if that's cool. Their pretty chill folks.

  7. Since my brother Brad lives in Scotland UK he never gets to see any NHL games live, so we're making our way to the leafs vs sens game tonight in Toronto, my brother-in-law is coming as well. It'll be my Nephew Quinn's first NHL game (he's 16). He bought himself a Leafs jersey the other day while we were out and had his (our) last name put on it. Luckily for me, he lives in Scotland so the only Canadian folks who'll see it will be the ones at the game tonight.  :P (..maybe I'll snap a pic of my Nephew's jersey with my last name on it for you guys, maybe...)

No idea where our seats are just yet, we got the tickets through my brother-in-law's work connections so they should be decent enough. Its been a decade since my brother and I have hung out together so this should be a fun night regardless.

For the record, my little brother is also a Bruins fan

  8. My niece's boyfriend brought over a bunch of Naughty Neighbour yesterday. Traded him a Bolshevik Bastard for one, not too bad for a blonde, though a bit light tasting for me.  Most APAs are like that for me though. Still tasty.

  9. I haven't sampled Bog Water yet, though I've seen it many times at the LC. Red Racer & Barking Squirrel I have picked up on numerous occasions. Red Racer is a great summer (or "day time") beer, at least for my taste anyway. Goes down easy and isn't overpowering in my opinion. Barking Squirrel was surprising tasty for a lager though not one I pick up often. Still a tasty brew over-all.

I picked up some Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout (9%) from Nickel Brook today to throw back while I smoke some ribs for dinner tonight, its got some kick to it that's for sure.

  10. I'm sure bouche would know (or have an idea anyway), but I have no idea how many reports I made regarding that forum. I was even telling the Russians off in Ukrainian the last few times they invaded.

Perhaps that forum has run its course. No one really posts in it and its seems to be a favourite place for spam. I know I would post quite frequently in the politics forum (if you're on my FB or twitter I'm sure you know what I mean) if others engaged, but social media seems to be a more suited place now-a-days for that type of shit.

  11. Finally got my 6 pack of limited cognac barrel aged 9.2% Twice as Mad Toms (3000 355 ml bottles made only)  yesterday thanks to a good friend in Bracebridge who picked them up in the fall for me before they were gone. I've been eagerly awaiting their delivery.

Most likely sample em when my friend John stops by with his recent batch of homemade smoked venison/pork summer sausage he made this week.
