Esau. got a reaction from Booche in In memory; Favourite Hip/Gord moments
Didn't realize it at the time it would be such a great memory, but seeing them on Canada day 89 in a park in London, ON. There was about 50 people hanging around, though the videos circulating appear to show even less. That was the first time I saw the Hip I believe.
Another Roadside Atrraction Markham, 93. My girlfriend and I got mistaken for other people (I think it was her moreso than me) by someone on MIdnight OIls crew and were invited back stage, by the time it was realized we weren't the right folks, we were told, "well, your here now, enjoy the show" The Hip came on about 15 minutes or so later. Watched the entire show side stage, and Gord was in prime form that day.  Unfortunatley didn't get to meet anyone, from any band that played that day but still an awesome time.

I was at a restaurant in downtown Kingston last June having dinner on the patio before a Bob Dylan concert at K-Rock. I knew that Rob Baker was a regular at the restaurant so it wasn't a complete shock when he walked right behind me, leaving the restaurant. It was, however, a shock to notice that Gord Downie (and Gord Sinclair) were with him. They stopped to linger on the sidewalk and Gord Downie noticed that I had noticed him.
As I stared with my jaw slightly agape Gord leaned down and put his elbows on the little fence that seperated the patio from the sidewalk. He rested his chin in his hands and smiled, staring at me with a bemused look on his face. I stared and gaped, he stared and smiled. It seemed to last for thirty seconds or more. Eventually he got me: I flinched and looked away.
When I looked back the three of them had set off down the sidewalk towards the Dylan show, completely unmolested by the throngs of people in the busy streets, all of whom had the respect to treat them the same as everyone else.
It's a wonderful final memory to have of a man I admire so much.

Bouche has a great story about getting into Hip shows in bars in Kingston- I think he would've been underage at the time ta boot.
They played our highschool dances a few times, were more of a Doors/Who cover band at the time. I think every Kingstonian has one or at the most, two, degrees of separation from them.

Seeing the hip at the horseshoe in last week of 1999 as a warm up gig for the acc show NYE. Then getting to go to NYE show later that week.
Almost bumping into Gord on Broadview ave in Toronto as he was putting his kids in the car and he stared at a giant bandage I had on my nose from a hockey injury. I think he was startled by my appearance as I was by him being Gord Downie.
I'm very sad to be in America right now as no one but my wife has any idea who Gord was and what has happened.
Thank you Gord for the music. Rip.

How anyone doesnt love how JRAD is bringing our favorites band's music to another level shocks me. Look no further to C-Towns post as they transition from Let It Grow into Running Down A Dream. This is a band who arent writing songs but are killing killer songs while going inside and out of them like I have never heard.
I would tour with these guys if I was a kid........and then you get Johnny Slayer showing up as a guest.....the Dead's music best keep living on

Just like ads, users will seek out ways of blocking the script. I know I'll be looking as it seems this practice is getting more and more popular, and by companies, that in my opinion shouldn't require it, nor be stressing users systems or bandwidth, like CBS. I get that site owners need ways to generate income to help cover costs since so many users block ads, but this method is more damaging (again, my opinion) then the risk of malicious scripts contained within ads - which for the most part isn't an epidemic by any means. I mean, how long before the folks who write the malicious scripts that get injected into ads simply inject them into mining scripts?  And how long before sites start figuring out how to inject mining scripts into downloads? Especially torrents, and on sites were share ratios are enforced, meaning users will either have to accept that their systems/utilities are being used or be kicked off a site for not maintaining an acceptable ratio.
utorrent was already caught installing (stealthy 3rd party like) mining scripts on user systems that updated their software, and it's likely mining scripts will eventually be hard written into software making it practically impossible to block or opt out, short of just not using it at all. Considering that a lot won't be transparent about it being there, users simply won't know. Given the rising value of nation-less digital currency like bitcoin, I suspect games will be the first software this stuff shows up in - its the best cover for it as systems will already being running at elevated levels making it less likely it will be detected by most users.

Same here.  It wasn't easy to get setup at all.  My vid card sounded like a leaf blower.   I let it run for like a half-hour and then computer overheated and shutdown.  I started looking at mini mining rigs, and they were really hard to come by.  Back orders were months away, so I gave up.  Coins were about $50 at the time. Should have just bought a dozen.  They're only worth about $5000 CAD right now.
I'm surprised that mining can now be done via a web script considering the hefty requirements, but I guess distributing the load is all that it takes. Nifty, but very very very shady.

I tried mining software years ago when I first heard of bitcoin but at the time I didn't have a machine strong enough to do it and make it worthwhile. I even fried a graphic's cards trying. But, now-a-days most people tend to have the bandwidth and computers capable of doing it (eg: gaming style pcs with powerful graphics cards) and the fact that bitcoin is worth a fair amount (1 BC = 4834.09 CDN  //  3,946.15 USD) there is a rise in this type of crap and considering places like TPB or software like utorrent boast of millions+ users/visitors daily it's no surprise really that this shit is no longer done via viruses but more or less in the open. I suspect it'll only become more popular too.

No idea if folks still use TPB (I haven't since it's first take down a few years back) but in case folks still are, be aware.
Also, if you use utorrent, starting with 3.4.2 build 28913, they've done it as well, link below in article. No idea if they still are though. I still use version 2.2 Build 23235 and its clean.
