  1. Truthfully, I find that I fight myself with that topic almost every day. I am not pro or anti fighting but I often wonder if it really does serve the purpose/need that the believers want us to follow. And please everyone, there is no need to cite examples. I am schooled enough which is probably why I get so easily confused. One day I want them to drop the instigator rule and the next I want them to really crack down on the fisticuffs.
  2. As usual, I find myself asking Kev the same question again. What the hell are you talking about? Put the bong down. There is no fighting in football. If you really think that fighting in the NHL is the answer to their US woes than I think you need to dial it back and attempt some moderation.
  3. WTF does football, NASCAR crashes and guns have to do with fighting in the NHL? There is no parallel at all.
  4. The ticket sales are fine in Nashville. As Jaimoe pointed out, its the lack of corporate sponsership that is killing them. Having seen a couple of broadcasts this year, I was completely impressed with the enthusiasm from the crowd. They would easily drown out the Leaf fans at Air Canada center any fucking day of the week, so this isnt a lack of passion we are talking about.
  5. That has been a long standing argument from people that dont watch the game. I'm not saying it is easy but I dont watch golf and I wouldnt want some computerized graffic following the flight of the ball for me. That's what video games are for. You end up getting used to it. Same with anything else you arent familiar with. Take an English chap to a baseball game and ask them how difficult it is for them to figure out the flight of the ball on popups. Its like a cat that hasnt quite figured out their depth perception within a new living space. Anyways, the glowing puck was a MISERABLE experiment and completely took away from the integrity of the experience.
  6. Dont assume I am simply talking to you Ollie. I didnt know you were so self-obsessed. and besides, you implied it: "all" reads that some could and "hot market" suggests Hamilton within the context of this thread.
  7. Well, its a good thing you arent running the show.
  8. I cant say that but I am always a doomsday sayer. When you look at the current disinterest amongst the media in the US regarding the NHL, you have to put on the hazard lights.
  9. Also, lets keep in mind that the NHL might prefer to have an expansion team start up in Hamilton if they are so sure it will be a hit. Let Basille (or whomever) sink his money into that fee. Seems like the smarter play to me. I think its obvious something more is at play when an owner turns away an extra 50 million bucks. EDIT TO ADD: I just noticed that AD posted at the exact time as I did. Same shit, different pile.
  10. Remember, they are coming off a strike and the US has snubbed their noses at them. The same thing happened with MLB but luckily for them, the home run chase in 1998 drew interest in the game again. Just because the NHL isnt doing very well now doesnt mean they should up and move. They have to fight the good fight and win back fans. Leaving would be suicide.
  11. Where else are they going to go Ollie? You HAVE to make it in the States if you want to be prosperous. If not, say goodbye to the NHL kids.
  12. Further proof that the US doesnt care about hockey and that the league is in more trouble than any of you putzes realize. The CONCACAF Gold Cup final attracted 41 percent more television households in the United States than the Stanley Cup finals clincher -- and that was just for the soccer game's Spanish-language telecast. The United States' 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Mexico on Sunday received a 2.5 fast national rating on Univision, the network said Tuesday. That translates to 2.83 million households, nearly double the 1.48 million homes that watched the 2005 Gold Cup final between the United States and Panama. This year's English-language telecast was on the Fox Soccer Channel, which is available in about 30 million homes and is not rated. Anaheim's series-ending 6-2 victory over Ottawa in the Stanley Cup on June 6 received a 1.8 rating on NBC, which comes to 2,005,000 households. The rating is the percentage watching a telecast among all homes with televisions, and a ratings point represents 1,114,000 households. http://www.sportingnews.c...rn/viewtopic.php?t=228422
  13. Nice link. I know what my plans tonight consist of.
  14. I blame Balsille in all of this. He came in and shoved people around and pissed off the old school boys club.
  15. Booche

    Thanks!

Congrats on that DB. You too Dancing Bear.
  16. That was fucking hilarious! "These are the moments when you appreciate Mel Kiper Jr. They don't happen often." Awesome. Totally awesome and I couldnt agree more.
  17. Horny birthday and all my manlove to you.
  18. Ah, the Murat Gin set. The almost 05-08-77 second set. Personally I always thought 04-16-92 took that mantel but we all shop at Phans R Us so it depends on the salesman we happily run into. Really, can any one of us complain about this release? I look forward to cranking the bastard on my stereo. As far as I am concerned, this Bathtub Gin is the equivalent of the Dark Star > MLB Jam from Dicks Picks 36. I have a boner. Thanks Schwa.
  19. Police in the Netherlands released this photograph of a field after someone suspected of driving under the influence of cocaine led officers on a wild chase through a rural part of the country. We couldn't find a story to back up the AP's caption, which says the driver rammed a fence, knocked over two apple trees and zigzagged through the field before police managed to make an arrest Friday in Dussen.
  20. Picking the scabs off yer cack the night before your urinary catheterization wasnt one of my favorite jobs MarcO.
  21. I could care less about their popularity Jackass. The problem here lies with the fact that Kariya is no longer a finisher, he is not going to be their saviour and that report is simply a preference piece. It is grounded in nothing. So the guy wants to see Kariya in a Leafs uniform. Who fucking cares? He should have sent this crap to Hockey Buzz, Hockey Trade Rumours or Hockey Leaks. Front page news should be front page news. All this article does is get a bunch of horny Leaf fans running around each other and slapping their dicks into one anothers arses.
  22. And while you're at it, can you grab me a bottle of Aberlour and have it mailed to my place? Sherry cask preferred. Thanks. I'll pay you whenever I want.
  23. I am sure they knew more than you do/did Ollie but none the less even if they were going in blind I am sure they could have waited until next Monday for the tribute. It simply goes to show the meathead mentality of the WWE.
  24. How is that Kariya piece the cover story at sportsnet.ca????? ::starts writing an email::
