I book a fair amount of last minute tickets and while booking today there was 3 seats left on the last flight leaving Freddy to Toronto for $1000 each. The Air Canada guy told me to do the following; Buy a ticket for the future with the same destinations(I got one for under $300) and come in an hour before the flight and switch the date to get on tonights flight, at most they can charge at the counter in the airport is $150, but the guy said he won't charge me anything. I guess its a gamble of someone buying the last 3 seats at $1000 a piece but people are on stand-by for the earlier flight, which if they get on, will open more seats on the later flight. It is Thanksgiving weekend which makes the stakes higher I guess but saving $700 might be worth it. Any tips on killing time in an airport?
