  7. The only way to get specialty bands like Galactic to come to Toronto, is if people continue to come out and support. Attendance to Galactic shows in Toronto have been on the wane, I simply want people who are fans help spread the word of this great band to their friends. This isn't a desperate plea - we're just spreading the funk around - come join in the fun! -- Farbsie Funk has been added! Farbsie Funk Thornhill, Ontario DJ Farbsie, founder of the Make It Funky Collective got deep into funk at Mo’ Gravy in london in 1996 prior to that his musical influences were formed in the jam band scene traveling to over 400 shows across North America. Having collected thousands of records over the years in 2000 He first stepped up to the decks and the formative years for the Make It Funky Collective began. In 2005 Make It Funky was born. In the years to follow Farbsie has been spreading the funk gospel and grooving dancefloors across the country. Fusing funky breaks with mowtown sounds, hiphop, calypso, reggae, and classic rock, Farbsie continues to push the boundries of where a dj can take you. Building a journey for the dancefloor that will have you smiling, shouting and singing along as you dance the night away. Farbsie working with Make It Funky partner Jay Cleary (House of David gang) spent years developing the funk/breaks scene presenting local and top international Breaks, Rare Groove, Turntablism, Classic old school hip-hop and live touring artists to venues across Canada. Farbsie dj skills and addictive flow and track selection has allowed him to share the stage with internationally acclaimed artists like Dj Z-Trip, Afrika Bambaataa, Krafty Kuts, Freddy Fresh, Herbaliser, A.Skillz, Mat the Alien, Fort Knox Five, Dj Czech, Bassnectar, and Deekline and Wizard. Farbsie’s vision is a concert experience whose mission is to explore the funkier side of all things breakbeat and it’s a mission he brings directly to the dance massive. You’ll get an exceptional night of music, dancing and good fun, with a focus on bringing the cutting edge of funk breaks hip hop and beat driven live music to the masses. Farbsie is just getting started and will shake booty’s on a dancefloor near you. Watch out!
  8. only 5 days away! thanks for your comments, Karen has been gone for the last two weeks, was back this weekend, I was however out of town, we spent Sunday night and Monday night together, but she's now headed to Belleville - her mom is freaking out about the wedding plans and wants her daughter there in the final stretch. So we're working on our own vows, our speeches, the final touches to the music and schedule. It's a big ordeal - I'm so lucky to have so many people helping, including my parents, her parents, friends and family. I just need to make sure that my bride isn't stressed out like her mom, that's gonna be horrible if she can't enjoy her day. We have guests from Victoria, Seattle, Ottawa, Fredericton, Halifax, Sudbury, Windsor... it's going to be a pretty wild party! Here's the musical line-up: House of David Gang Chamaleon Project DJ set DJ Farbsie High Plains Drifter Gratefully Deadicated Soundsystem Brad Smith (of Telephoto, Kingston) Edo (flute, guitar) Daniel Breault (Fiddle) The Family Band
  9. Hey Everyone, I'm getting married in 2 weeks, and I'd love to have some of your advice in making the wedding a special day. We're all set with the people (about 125), place (Belleville, ON), caterers, flowers, minister, bands & DJs, ushers and Honeymoon (in Quebec City then (maybe) SuperBall8 for wookiemoon). Karen and I have had a wonderful 3.5 years together and things are about to go upside down, not because of our wedding, but Karen just got offered a Post-Doctorate at Columbia University in NYC starting in October. I'll be moving with her by the end of November, and we'll start a new chapter of our lives together in the US for 2 to 3 years. Anyhow I'm looking for some advice on how to spice up the wedding and make things special for Karen and our families... any tips or suggestions are very welcome. you can check out our wedding website here www.jaykarenwedding.ca - there's some nice photos of us. thanks! Jay
  10. what do ya think? look for GDSS at Evolve Festival this summer
  11. Hey Mike, I think the best way to sell digital music to your fan base right now is www.bandcamp.com You can get people to pay what they can for your album which seems to have worked well for other acts I've worked with. Of course itunes is where you'll also want it, but you'll have better return with sales on bandcamp, and you won't have to wait a couple weeks to get it up on itunes (CD baby is one of the easiest ways to set that up) looking forward to hearing it!
