  4. here's the deets: Small World Music Proudly Presents: The 10 Year Birthday Party for the Small World Music Festival featuring: Prince Enoki's Insect Orchestra & The Lemon Bucket Orkestra ... As part of the 10th Annual Small World Music Festival Sponsored by: TD Bank Group & CBC Toronto Thursday, September 22 @ Lula Lounge - Doors @ 8:00PM *** FREE EVENT FREE EVENT FREE EVENT FREE EVENT FREE EVENT *** For more info, MP3s, videos & more, visit: http://smallworldmusic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=120 -- To kick off the festival, Small World presents as crazy a night of “orchestral†music as you’ll ever see or hear, featuring two really big Toronto bands who put a unique spin on the world music big band concept! Prince Enoki’s Insect Orchestra is a 9 piece afro-space-jazz ensemble, led by bassist and throat-singer Scott Peterson. Inspired by worldwide indigenous music and the earth’s natural soundscapes, the Insect Orchestra takes listeners from Asia to the Amazon, with a stop in Africa along the way. Amazonian grass bundle, glass bottles and tambouras blend with upright bass, overtone singing, interlocking guitars, deep drums, percussion, tuba & baritone saxophone to evoke long nights in a smoky jungle. The Lemon Bucket Orkestra is Toronto’s only Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk superband! The band grew out of a conversation between a Breton accordionist and a Ukrainian fiddler, in a Vietnamese restaurant on Yonge Street. Within a few short months, the original quartet had swelled into a thirteen-piece band, and quickly gained a reputation as Toronto’s liveliest party band. Their explosive take on Ukrainian, ex-Yugoslavian, Romani and other traditional songs and their desire to play anywhere and everywhere has lit up Toronto’s urban folk scene. -- For more info, MP3s, videos & more, visit: http://smallworldmusic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=120 -- Links to All 10th Annual Small World Music Events: http://www.smallworldmusic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=116 Thursday, Sept. 22: Prince Enoki's Insect Orchestra & Lemon Bucket Orkestra http://smallworldmusic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=120 Friday, Sept. 23: Funkété 1 Year Anniversary feat. 5. aww i would just love to see this band live! I got to know their keyboard player Ray via booking the Vorcza trio a couple of times. He plays with so much expression. What i heard from Vorcza Trio bass player was that Trey really likes Ray's ability to never play a song the same way twice.
  6. I did a 45 rpm single for House of David Gang and it ended up being about $2.50 per record. I got the laquers and plating for cheaper, but that does sound reasonable... who's the manufacturer in Canada? Vinyl Guru is one of the top companies who run these orders, but they manufacture in California.
  7. i'm planning a show on Saturday at El Mocambo.... KC Roberts & The Live Revolution plus God Made Me Funky look promising.. any other ideas?
  8. Reggae Warriors! photos by William Scheistel aka Smoothedshredder
  9. I had that same Feed Us album... it was raw lound obnoxious - exactly the type of music I loved in high school.. but upon hearing the music recently I wasn't much a fan. Great blast from the past still!
  10. yikes, it would be a shame! Although I think i'll be spending less time here when I move at the end of November.
  11. I grew up on that album... memories of long road trip across Canada with my parents just thinking about tracks like "Shattered,""Far Away Eyes"... I recently watched C#$ksucker Blues video, it was a bit of a mess to watch, couldn't get through the whole thing. Did it get better at the end?
  12. This was a lot of fun... i really think that area is so beautiful, I know I'll always have a spiritual connection to that area... I'm hoping to post some pictures soon... Thanks to all who showed up - it was an IRIE TIME!
  13. there's no snatching going on! I'm just trying to help spread the good word about this great new BC Band!
