  1. The band lineup has now been finalized - I've edited the intitial post to include the complete lineup.

Friday night will be upstairs only, and Saturday night will feature "two floors of fun." Think of last year's FUNdraiser show ... that's the spirit and vibe that we are going for with this event.

More information, including ticket info, directions, etc. will be posted in the near future.

    Peace, Mark

  2. "I'm not really sure why I'm posting this as clearly most of you won't give a sh!t."

    NOT TRUE AT ALL!!!!!!

I'm sure i'm not the only one who cares very much about your well being.

    You can do it!

    Ditto.

All the best to you Aaron as you work toward living a healthy, balanced life.

    Peace, Mark

  3. I had to go back to June 21, 2001 to find my first post, which was made when this board was still part of bouche's original website called Phish Sanctuary. I found bouche's original Phish Sanctuary site when looking for information about the band nero. As scottieking mentioned, I was a part of the Canadian Tape Traders Board where I met some people including those scottieking mentioned along with others including Mike Christie (Mr. Photogeek) and Eric Warren (Tungsten Gruvsten). Way back then I also visited KevO's upcoming shows page and 'ersh's canjam site.

I started jambands.ca after having my head blown wide open at the May 2001 Come Together Music Festival. I started the site to use it as a promotional tool and to try and fill a void that was left when 'ersh found himself to be too busy with BNB to keep updating his original canjam site. I then hooked up with bouche and KevO to try to merge the best of all 3 of those sites into one. Fortunately bouche has been willing to put in the countless hours necessary to keep jambands.ca going ... I am so thankful for that!

Here's the original post that I made:

    Jambands.ca Fall Music Fest

Please visit www.jambands.ca/fallfest for details about the festival. Nero is now confirmed to play, as are Jomomma, the Acousticats (acoustic Fat Cats), and Groovediggas, with more to follow.

I am extremely excited about the vibrant state of the jam band community. I've been a music lover and a jam band supporter for a number of years, and the May Come Together Festival at Frontier Town inspired me to jump in and make my contribution to the scene. It is so nice to go out to great music shows and connect with positive, happy people. I hope to see some of your smiling faces at shows in the years to come.

    Peace,

    Mark Tonin

  4. Wow ... what a fantastic band Garaj Mahal is! I was extremely impressed with the jaw-dropping musicianship displayed by all four members of the band, along with their ability to lay down a whole range of infectious grooves.

Garaj Mahal is definitely one of the best (jam)bands I have ever seen, and I hope that I get a chance to see this band again before too long.

It was a treat to spend a few days in Vancouver with my brother, and I enjoyed running into some friends that I know from Ontario including Canned Beats, Rabid Monkey, Jeffrey Kornblum and Greg Fisher.

Thanks to Keither and the Bonfire team for putting on these shows. The Fairview is a sweet small venue with great sound, and it was fun looking around and seeing a bunch of smiling faces that I haven't seen before. I hope to be able to make it to another show on the West Coast before too long, and would love to see Garaj Mahal in Southern Ontario!

The year 2007 is off to a mighty fine start!

    Peace, Mark

  5. I had a great time at last year's festival, even with the huge wait in line to get in and with the major rainstorm on the last night. Definitely a great vibe in the campground. Awesome music.

Clean bathrooms and showers are definitely a huge bonus two or three days into a big festival!

It's too early for me to commit to summer festivals at this point, but I will be keeping GOTV in mind when I start making my summer 2007 plans.

    Peace, Mark

  6. I'm very excited to be heading to Vancouver to spend some time with my brother and to see Garaj Mahal!

At some point during the night, I'm convinced that I will spin around on the dance floor while smiling and thinking sweet thoughts about the Fatties and all of my friends in Hamilton, and then I'll spin the other way while thinking sweet thoughts about Burt and all of my friends in Ottawa. I figure if I spin both ways I won't get dizzy and fall down, but if I do fall, I figure that some new friends that I've met in Vanccouver will pick me up, and my brother will laugh and smile as it all happens.

    Peace, Mark

  7. It was a very emotional funeral service yesterday, filled with many laughs and tears as people close to Marcel shared their thoughts and stories about him.

Harvard Mouse was very happy to be able to contribute to the service by playing acoustic versions of two of Marcel's favourite songs, Ripple and Brokedown Palace. The line "mama mama many worlds I've come since I first left home" was particularly tough for me to sing without losing it.

Marcel's acoustic guitar and songbook were both on display at the funeral service. The songbook contains handwritten versions of many of Marcel's favourite songs. I'd never seen it before, and after the service I flipped through the book and found myself staring at hand-written versions of Ripple and Brokedown Palace, appearing on opposite pages of the book. May Marcel's spirit and memory continue to shine on forever.

I feel better today than I've felt in a number of days, an indication to me that I am on the path to dealing with this loss. I can only imagine how tough and long of a path it will be for his parents, siblings, and his closest friends.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

    Peace, Mark

  8. Harvard Mouse will still be playing at this show, because Marcel would want us to, and because music soothes the soul.

Having said that, we will most likely be heading out before the end of the night. The Mouse family has been together for the last two nights and I can envision doing the same tonight.

Come out tonight, hug your friends, dance and smile, and support a good cause. Life is precious.

    Peace, Mark
