  1. Dave,

You are one of the most intelligent, thoughtful, and caring people that I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with, and you are one of the most talented people that I have ever had the pleasure of playing music with.

Wishing you all the best and sending you big birthday hugs. I miss you, my friend!

"I am actually working on a Dr. Evil Mouse dictionary comprised of all the words you use on here that I don't understand. Look for that to be published sometime next year!"

Backbacon, I'll buy a copy for sure! Whenever I'm about to read an email or a post by Dr. Evil, I make sure that I have a dictionary close by.

    Peace, Mark

  2. What a wonderful weekend! It was a great way to end the summer and head into this school year.

Some personal highlights, in no particular order, include:

    - Playing a set of music on the acoustic stage early on Saturday afternoon with Dr. Evil Mouse, my friend Colin & Daveymouse, while my family and friends cheered us on. Thanks to everyone for the support!

    - Jomomma's set ... wow! They were rockin' and they sounded great through the big pa system. Nick Gefucia was cookin' on bass, so much so that at one point steam was radiating off of his back!

    - Seeing Blair & Mud for the first time since their return from Newfoundland.

    - Seeing Marie & Simone, who were visiting from California. What an unexpected treat that was!

    - Hanging out with the mouse family, and jamming with Dr. Evil, timouse, and Mark Wilson on Sunday afternoon.

    - Staring at the lights at Willy & Cjamson's campsite, and then past them up into the sky at the stars.

    - Connecting with so many friends and super people at this festival. This festival had a low sketch factor ...

I wish I had time to write more ...

I look forward to the next time I get to connect with all of you wonderful people!

    Peace, Mark

  4. Jim Slansky is a guy that plays in a band called Passenger, and another one called Chipotle.

I've never seen Chipotle, but I've seen Passenger a few times and I think they're a good band. The last time I saw them I thought they were really good. Lots of tasty covers, a few originals, jazzy, funky.

I think that Jim made a mistake a while ago when he pulled some emails from this board and added them to his email list. But in the grand scheme of life, that's such a minor mistake that I'd like to think we could get past it and move on.

Jim's a solid guy, Passenger is a solid band, can we please put this one to rest. Jeez, I hope the next time that I make a mistake I won't have to read about it for a lifetime on this message board.

Tigger just showed up at my house and concurs with the above. Damn straight, mister ... time to go for some beers.

    Peace, Mark

  5. Loved the show! We walked in as moe. was playing and immediately headed to our seats (section 203, row E, very nice!). I thought the sound for moe. was very good, although much quieter than when ABB hit the stage. And moe. played well!

For some reason, they had Oteil's bass absolutely cranked up for the first part of the ABB show, which created much of the muddiness with the sound I am sure.

I liked the organic feel of the show, with the lack of a "leader" ... the show had a blues jam feel to it at times, with lots of opportunity for each band member to shine through. I can't say I liked this show more or less than previous ABB shows that I've seen, but it was refreshing to hear this version of the band taking a different approach.

And once again, the visuals were a treat to watch ... some very tasty video images helped to enhance the whole concert experience, that's for sure.

A sweet show ... so much to listen to, so much to look at, room to dance ... I've got a smile on my face thinking about it.

    Peace, Mark

  6. It looks like I'll be able to make it to this one for some jammin' and some socializing. And I think I'll manage to drink a few pints while I'm there! :)

And if anybody needs a pair of cheap ($15 each including service charges) tickets to the Toronto ABB/moe. show, I'll have them with me at the Gypsy when I'm there. Just let me know that you want them in the next few hours and you can pick them up from me at the Gypsy, or get to me at the Gypsy before anybody else does.

Dr. Evil Mouse, let's do some jammin' tonight!

    Peace, Mark

  7. The Caution Jam / Burt Neilson Band blender was absolutely stellar. Mike and Mark 'dueling' at centre stage is an image that will remain engrained in my mind for some time to come.

This sounds like magic to my ears and eyes ... here's hoping for some blending at the upcoming Come Together Fest.

    Peace, Mark

  8. Eric and Denise ... what a wonderful celebration! Wishing you a lifetime together filled with good health and much happiness. What a pleasure it was to be able to host a pre-wedding gathering with some of your friends, and then to join you in celebrating your marriage with more friends and family.

Peace, love and hugs to both of you,

    Mark

  9. In!!! Anyone who saw me Friday after the Codetalkers show(freaking out with excitement) knows that Me and Dancin' Man won two tickets for this show, Thanks Mark Tonin and Briguy!!!

Super Freak ... your reaction at the Codetalkers show when we approached you with the tickets was priceless! ... I've got a huge smile on my face thinking about it ... see you at the show!

    Peace, Mark

  10. I recently reconnected with a former high school student of mine named Lucas Stagg. Some of you may remember him from the May Come Together Fest when he played a set of Bob Dylan songs on the acoustic stage.

A few months ago, I went to his cd release party at the Boathouse. I was impressed! Lucas has great stage presence, a strong voice, and he has written some solid songs. I purchased a copy of his cd "Play For Keeps" and have listened to it a number of times. Just him, his acoustic guitar, and a backup vocal on a few songs. He's a huge Dylan fan and his cd has a "Dylanish" feel to it.

Recently I asked Lucas for a few copies of his cd to share with others to help spread his songs and music around. If you think that you'd like a copy, send me a private message with your snail mail address and a brief reason why you should get the cd. Tomorrow morning I'll pick 3 people and send out a disc to each person.

Hopefully some people are interested in receiving some new music by a young singer-songwriter in the mail ...

    Peace, Mark
