  1. This is a Kaidy Mae Appreciation Thread so I'll say it:

    "I appreciate Kaidy Mae!"

Looking forward to the next time we connect in person, hopefully at the Toronto Big Summer Classic show, or maybe before. You have such positive energy ... thanks for sharing it!

    Peace, Mark

P.S. Lazlo, your post and avatar have me laughing as I type this.

  2. Greg - I initially thought that I'd be heading to the Buffalo show and not the Toronto show, but now the plan has changed. Toronto it is, and then north with my family starting on Thur. June 30 to visit some friends and enjoy the start of summer holidays.

You post also reminds me of the other free shows in Buffalo coming up in the next few weeks and over the summer. I'm not sure if I'll get to any of them, but it might happen. Thoughts of summer, camping, and outdoor concerts are now dancing in my head ...

    Peace, Mark

  3. that cd has loads of power behind it for just 3 guys.

Agreed ... I don't know that much about the cd recording and mastering process, but whenever I listen to the Oysterhead cd I notice how loudly and clearly it comes through.

Oysterhead is currently one of my son's favourite bands - I put a few tracks from The Grand Pecking Order onto a mixed cd for him. Having said that, Deep Banana Blackout's "Rowdy Duty" has been getting more play time lately. Nyell loves hearing Fuzz play guitar.

  4. When I first heard about the Toronto Little Feat show, I didn't think that I'd be able to make it, given the time of the year. Now it looks like I'll be going, with some friends, and that puts a big smile on my face!:)

This band has influenced so many others. I love the Warren Haynes quote about Little Feat on the Little Feat home page:

"When I was growing up in a little town called Asheville, North Carolina, one of my favorite bands in the world, and still one of my favorite bands in the world, please help me introduce F-E-A-T! Please welcome Little Feat!"

It's also nice to see that they are very willing to call themselves "The Jambands' Jamband" as I'd call them one of the finest old-school jambands ever. In fact, after talking with some long-time Feat fans over the last few years, I'd call them legendary. Very talented musicians, great songs mixed with some tasty jamming, and the last two times that I saw them (in Hamilton) I really enjoyed watching how much fun they were having on stage.

OK, I admit it ... I'm now excited about being able to go to the Toronto show!

    Peace, Mark

  5. These guys blew my mind at the May Come Together Fest. They were pushing musical boundaries, and played with an incredible amount of passion and energy. And I agree with bouche, if you got up close and watched them, it added a tremendous amount to the experience.

"You'll be hearing a lot about Reed Mathis from the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, because he's doing innovative stuff." I agree with Les Claypool - Reed Mathis plays the bass like nobody else I've seen!

  6. Wow ... I wish I could have been in Ottawa last night for this event ... it sounds like one of those shows that won't ever be forgotten.

Booche, let me know when you and Lynn are heading to Toronto, because I'm ashamed to admit it ... I still haven't seen Kevin Breit and Sister Euclid! It would be an extra-special treat to see the band when you were also in attendance.

    Peace, Mark

  7. Hey Todd,

I just got a message from someone in town about the amp and speakers but if that falls through I'll keep you in mind for sure.

And on another note, it's been a while, my friend! I hope we connect in person at some point in the not-too-distant future.

    Peace, Mark

  8. In an effort to declutter and free up some space and possibly scrape together a few bucks, I'm selling off some home stereo equipment if anyone is interested. Make me an offer if you are interested ... I'll consider any offer from somebody that wants a good working stereo system for cheap.

It's a technicss system, in good working condition, with an amp, 2 speakers, cd player, and cassette deck. It's an older system (everything but the cd player is around 20 years old) but it's never been abused and still works well. I've also got a realistic equalizer and 2 additional infinity speakers that I've used with the stereo.

Send me a private message if you want more info or if you want to make me an offer.

I'll also consider selling parts of it separately if anyone just wants some of the items.

    Peace, Mark

  9. Hey StoneMtn,

I've never seen them live, but I've heard excellent reviews from a few different people.

Jen Durkin, the lead singer, used to sing with Deep Banana Blackout. I'm guessing that The Bomb Squad will have a similar sound.

Think 9 piece band, including a horn section and a lead singer with great pipes, laying down some heavy funk with a rocky edge.

I've got to believe that this will be a full-on, high-energy dance party.

Can anyone else add to this?

    Peace, Mark

  10. Thanks for updating the festival web site, LMP.

From what I gather after talking with Mark Wilson, the feeling is that there just isn't enough time to pull off a successful Canada Day Festival at Izzy's.

Apologies from Mark W. to anyone who made plans around a Canada Day Weekend Come Together Fest.

Mark W. has stressed that there are definitely plans in the works for a Labour Day Weekend Come Together Fest at Izzy's ... stay tuned for more info in the near future.

    Peace, Mark

  11. It's so nice to read that this night was an extra-special one. I couldn't be there in person, but most definitely was in spirit.

Keri, you are so very deserving of the kindness that was sent your way on this evening.

Ryan and Diesel Dog, thanks for making this happen. Not only do you lay down some mighty fine songs, grooves, and jams, but you've always been willing to step up to the plate and help out whenever and however you can. It's no wonder that so many people dig what you do.

It's been a long day and it's time for my head to hit a pillow ... reading this thread and Keri's last post will have me sleeping with warmth in my soul and a smile on my face.

    Peace, Mark
