  1. Wow ... what a blast that was ... I'd go to see Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings again, that's for sure! An incredible amount of energy was coming from the stage, and the crowd was into it in a big way. It was an extra-special night for me as my wife Liana was out for this show and had an awesome time ... nothing like old-school funk to get her dancing.

Willy & Leanne, what can I say ... once again you were the most amazing party hosts.

Thanks to Cjamson for bring his pa to the party ... it was lots of fun jamming and playing before and after the show.

Great to connect some more faces to names ... nice to put a face to the name Jay aka TomFoolery.

    Peace, Mark

  2. Special thanks to Timmouse for sitting in for the second set & encore; I'm the luckiest guy in the world with double drummers going full-tilt in stereo behind me! Looking forward to to when we do this again!

Two drummers ... yum yum ... I was lucky enough to experience it for one song when Aaron sat in with the mice for Hey Pocky Way (thanks Aaron!) ... I felt like I was in the centre of the universe, nestled comfortably in a uterus close to Uranus.

And from a dancer's perspective, two drummers = infectious beats for the feet!

    Peace, Mark

  3. I thought my mom said she and some of her friends were going to be in KW last night.....glad to see they made it to the show ;)

Glad to hear it was another success! Wish we could have been there!

Ok, one more quick post before I turn off this computer ... hmmm ... man-oh-man, I wish I could come up with a witty reply to this ... hmmm ... oops, better not write that ... hmmm ... oops, suppose Blair's mom reads this ... hmmm ...

I miss you Babsy, and I miss you Mud! I wish you could have been there, and I hope to see you soon!

    Peace, love & hugs,

    Mark

  4. What a blast folks! Harvard, you guys sounded great. And we gotta get that drum thing happening at shows in Hamilton, it gets everyone so rev'd up.

Hey Kevin, thanks for making the journey to KW for the show! It was a treat to see you there. Sorry I bailed on the late night party session ... my head needed a pillow.

To be honest, I've been holding off on bringing the mice and drummers to Hamilton, because when it happens, I want it to be extra-special. When it comes to music and friends, Hamilton has an extra-special place in my heart.

Have a great night ... I'm heading out to my backyard now to build a campfire with my son ... he's stoked about the idea!

    Peace, Mark

  5. I'm still not clear what constitutes a 'cougar' and whether it's a totally derogatory label or not (comments???).

Interesting Deb ... I just had a phone conversation with Tigger about this earlier today. When I posted, I put the word cougars in quotes because it's one of those terms that different people interpret in different ways. I've heard it used in a derogatory context, but to me it is a term that describes thirty to fifty year old women who aren't shy about their sexuality and who like to party & dance to rock & roll music. There's nothing wrong with that from my perspective, that's for sure!

It was especially fitting that they walked in just before we launched into Won't Get Fooled Again, which is a song that I thing many "cougars" would know and enjoy.

  6. A fun night ... thanks to those of you that made it out.

Here's the Harvard Mouse setlist (I may have the order mixed up at bit).

    Mercedes Benz

    Let the Good Times Roll

    Feelin' Alright

    Walk On

    Sympathy for the Devil

    Groovy Boogie Woogie Good Time

    Remedy

    Keeps Us Alive

    Vampire Blues

    Hey Pocky Way

    Won't Get Fooled Again

A moment I won't forget ... just before we started playing Won't Get Fooled Again, a bus load of "cougars" shows up at the bar - they were on a pub crawl and we were one of the stops on their circuit. I hit the opening notes of Won't Get Fooled Again, look up, and the dance floor is suddenly filled with women rockin' away! It couldn't have been planned any better.

Thanks to Rose Garland for playing some tasty Dead for us, and for the sound and lights ... we had some cool lights and video projections to watch throughout the evening.

Looking forward to a blow out in Chatham ... some surprises are in the works, that's for sure!

    Peace, Mark

  7. Here is some more info about the second (acoustic) stage that will be at this year's May Come Together Music Festival. Hopefully we'll see some skanks on this stage!

    ----------

Mark Crissinger and Jay Cleary are organizing a second stage at this year's May Come Together Music Festival. This stage will provide an opportunity for musicians to perform in an acoustic format, and it will be run in a similar fashion to the way an "open stage" is run at a bar. There will be a pa system set up for musicians to use, with mics and stage monitors. The thought is that solo musicians, duos, and acoustic acts will be able to perform on this stage. The stage will also provide an opportunity for some spontaneous jamming to occur.

The current plan is to have this stage operating on Saturday and Sunday, from mid-afternoon until early evening. If you are planning on attending the festival, and you know for sure that you want some time on this stage to perform, you should email Mark Crissinger at cautionjam@yahoo.com to sign up for a time slot. Mark will be creating a schedule for the stage. The schedule will include the names of those who have signed up, but it will also include some blank time slots to accomodate other musicians that want to play, and to allow for spontaneous jamming to occur.

Many talented musicians always attend the Come Together Music Festivals. A number of them don't perform on stage, but rather at campsites and around campfires. Our hope with this second stage is to give campfire musicians an opportunity to perform on stage.

  8. That picture of Keri and Becky is hilarious!

Keri does a pretty good Mark Tonin too.

I agree ... Keri pulled off some Mark Tonin moves a while ago when we were visiting at Jay & Miranda's, and I couldn't stop laughing ... I'm laughing right now just thinking about it!

    Peace, Mark
