  1. Goalies are such a quirky bunch that this Emery deal is a good one. Most goalies run so hot and cold throughout their career. Ray has one year under his belt as a starter and he will get better. He's too smart and tough a competetor not to.
  2. I believe The Police (minus Kanye West) should make the list and my friend told me that Tool put in a stinker of show at their recent Hamilton gig. I'll take #7-12 over most (except #1 or 2) anyday. 1. White Stripes 2. Radiohead 3. Pearl Jam 4. Rage Against the Machine 5. U2 6. Metallica 7. Flaming Lips 8. My Morning Jacket 9. The Hold Steady 10. Arcade Fire 11. The Raconteurs 12. Wilco 13. Yeah Yeah Yeahs 14. Red Hot Chili Peppers 15. Gogol Bordello 16. Kings of Leon 17. Muse 18. Dave Matthews Band 19. Tool 20. LCD Soundsystem
  3. The Jays pitching is fine and the future looks bright indeed. The best deal J.P. didn't make was panic when A.J. and Chacin went down. Marcum, McGowan and even the much maligned Towers have been good in their absence and Chacin in particular should be traded. Incidently, all three of J.P.'s free agent starting pitcher singings at the start of the season have been released.
  4. Accardo is just a kid too. His recent blown saves will make him a better pitcher in big situations like in NY and Boston in the near future... and there's no way Black is worse than Campbell - although they are 1-2 in the bad charts. Jamie is the worst play-by-play man since Fergie Oliver, a man he 'accidently' quotes from time to time.
  5. 2004 Mazda 3. I love this car.
  6. I guess she won't be on Leno tonight?
  7. Not only do I agree that Forrest is the fucking man, but I also think he's the best colour commentor in the country. Mark that down for future reference.
  8. They missed it and at least Nigel fessed-up to missing it.
  9. The diving is driving me nuts and making me sick at the same time.
  10. Although one thing that will be sobering to see will be Page getting his ass handed to him by Jeff Beck during would-be duels.
  11. Well, I'm never really saw this coming from one of my all-time favourite bands. Page hasn't been part of any Yardbird incarnation over the decades and Beck played on one track on the faux Yardbirds comeback album from a few years ago. Anyway, with these two together from the best era and incarnation of The Yardbirds, I'd love to go to this concert. I wish bassist Paul Samwell-Smith joined the band too, but at least four of the six key members will be in the band. The story here.
  12. I'm listening to a hell of a lot of Nick Drake right now.
  13. I'm currently listening to, and writing a review of Gov't Mule's re-issue: Live At The Roseland Ballroom (1995). Mule management mailed me the re-issue and I didn't know it was out of print until I read the liner notes. It's been out of print (until this May) for 10 years. Anyway, I think it's their most satisfying live recording, especially for fans of the original power-trio (which I whole-heartedly am):
  14. Beautiful music from a beautiful movie:

  16. Has John Popper dealt with his speeding and gun-possession arrest yet... or should I say, when is his day in court scheduled?
  17. I think this series of three skits is the funniest thing I've seen regarding wedding parody. It's Rowan Atkinson (Blackaddar, Mr. Bean, Not The Nine O'Clock News) at his youthful best. Note, the second skit is about a wedding speech by a best man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4t03uBWYCw
  18. I hit up my ususal information entertainment sites: Ain't It Cool Dark Horizons DVD Active (DVD reviews site) Rolling Stone Pitchfork All Music Guide All Movie Guide IMDB
  19. Susan Tedeschi joined the Allmans at the Molson Amphitheatre for a rousing rendition of Stormy Monday five years ago or so. I think her lead solo was the best of the three, which included solos by her husband and Warren Haynes.
  20. I will be making a trip down to Dundas & Yonge soon. I have the Dick Cavett Show Hendrix DVD, making seeing this guitar even more exciting. It's a Hendrix-played guitar for crying out loud. Here's yesterday's Toronto Star feature: http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/article/237661
  21. I've done a few speeches including my own wedding speech and from what I could tell, they were well received. Go with your heart... and don't forget to add a few funny personal stories too. I don't recommend doing impersonal generic stuff. Be original.
  22. Question: Does Phish's music (album, live recordings and DVD performances) date well to you 'heads'? It doesn't for me. I never feel the urge to play their music or watch my few Phish DVD's. I wish I did.
  23. Here's a bio. Check out who was influenced by her: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sister_Rosetta_Tharpe
  24. And she can kick Johnny Lang's Playstation- addicted ass. She kicks it around 1:24 in, but the song is worth listening to all the way through:
