  1. Off the top of my head: Pete Townshend - no one comes close in my books for shear power, style and in reinventing rock rhythm guitar playing. Keith Richards/Brian Jones Ray Davies Chrissie Hynde Bob Weir Danny Whitten Izzy Stadlin Kurt Cobain Joe Strummer Dave Matthews ...and virtually all good jam band lead guitarists - they all play excellent rhythm guitar when needed.
  2. Chameleon, dude, you praise Bobby but can't even spell his last name?!
  3. Here's a recent Letterman performance. This English kid looks and sounds like a Nashville vet:
  4. I just watched Teddy Tompson's performance on Conan and I'm really impressed. Teddy sounds like a young Elvis from the Sun years with a heavy dose of Carl Perkins and Eddie Cochran. It's like this kid is from a different era. Fantastic! http://www.myspace.com/teddythompsonmusic
  5. I remember the skit on SCTV where Tony played Lou Ferrigno and was a guest on the Mike Douglas Show afternoon talk show. Rick Moranis played Douglas and Dave Thomas was Liberace. Douglas and "Lee" got Ferrigno to take off his shirt and flex while they felt his muscles. I love Ferrigno's line: "What are you, a couple of..." Douglas: "We'll be right back".
  6. He was always busy as a character actor on Canadian produced TV series and movies and he still was doing improv work in Toronto. I talked to him about that when I saw him last. Of course, his new material hasn't gone over too well.
  7. I've been a fan of Tony since his early SCTV days and liked his brief tenure on SNL during the Eddie Murphy years. I met Tony a couple of years ago since he was a neighbour of mine in the building on Broadview Avenue that gets mentioned in almost every article. I even saw him with his estranged wife and new baby a month before his reportedbreakdown. Here's a report from the Toronto Star: http://www.thestar.com/News/article/244153
  8. I originally read that as meaning you were so fucking drunk (right at the moment) that it caused you to miss AJ Burnett pitch (this evening). Aloha' date=' Brad[/quote'] I'd stay out of this one Bradley.
  9. If the blowout continues and it's looking like Halladay is on his game tonight, the later innings could get very interesting. Bill Elliot believes that the Yanks will "try something" tonight. Here's a question to ponder: It seems that the Jays have the most colour commentators in baseball and sports for that matter, so why is a non player Sam Cosentino doing colour? You'd think one of the other ex-players would have been booked for the Yankee series. I'm not saying Sam isn't doing a pretty decent job...
  10. Ernie's is the greasiest of greasy spoons, but an institution.
  11. Anyone who can accost Ebott Lundberg from The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and live to tell the tale, is ok in my books.
  12. Not an official rule, but one that has to be done when visiting the Island: Eat breakfast and/or lunch at Ernie's in Marysville.
  13. I missed the hit. I was deliberately out moving the car.
  14. Hey d_rawk, how much more do you love me now after you watch this solo live performance of Jason? Any non-believers that don't find this moving are fucking deaf (BTW, Molina always does unaccompanied stuff in concert and it's the best). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQtjwVTJUgw&mode=related&search=
  15. I think Jason Molina is a freaking genius. He's every bit as prolific as his contemporaries/friends Ryan Adams and Bright Eyes and just as talented. Don't miss Magnolia Electric Co. when they tour Canada this fall. Here's a ton of downloads from Magnolia Electric Co.'s new acclaimed box-set called Sojourner: http://www.myspace.com/magnoliaelectricco

    Yo La Tengo?

    Go see them and enjoy.
  17. Is he a white or red wine drinker? If he doesn't normally drink red, then leaving it on a shelf would make some small sort of sense.
  18. The Riches is an FX show, thus has a better chance of being renewed since FX is an up-and-coming network.
  19. No worries. Showcase repeats every series at least two more times a season. I caught Rescue Me Season III in its third repeat run. Showcase has a decent website too if you want to check for future airings etc...
  20. Is it corked or a screw-top? In the long run, that wine will go off, but you still have time if it's a screw-on cap.
  21. Blues? Me? If it ain't Johnny Lang or Kenny Wayne Sheppard then it ain't the blues.
  22. I always loved Goose Gossage. Dan Quisenberry scared the hell out of every batter. However, Rollie Fingers is the best since he played in an era where relief pitchers weren't used like they are today, meaning, starters 'actually' pitched (and were expected to pitch) a significant amount complete games.
  23. And I just woke up after a refreshing four hour sleep and can't for the life of me answer Alabma Man's question.
