  1. John Doe should rip it up too.
  2. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova: "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" If you know the Irish movie "Once" that will probably get an Oscar nod this year, then you know these two.
  3. Wait a minute. I don't see Sheryl Crow's name anywhere on that list. This must be an oversight or misprint.
  4. Nice to see Roger McGuinn covering Dylan once again.
  5. It is a biggie to old fans. Mimic isn't duplication. Anthony also brought in an attitute that can't be replaced by a teenager.
  6. Other than Jack Johnson, this lineup looks incredible. Tom Verlaine is in the Million Dollar Bashers alone with Smokey and Nels. Jim James, Sonic Youth, Antony & The Johnsons, The Black Keys etc... and the songs are fucking incredible. I'm buying this sucker.
  7. Have a great day Oliver.
  8. Great news indeed. Congrats Corey and Lassie!
  9. It hasn't been renewed as of today. Let's hope it doesn't receive the same fate as John From Cincinnati.
  10. Wolfgang is kinda freaky looking. I realize that Eddie and Valerie are twins, but Wolfgang looks like a pudgy-faced version of his mother pre-fad diet.
  11. Now Boston has three good players. We'll see how great the team is at the mid-point of the season. There's no way they'll go through the year without any significant injuries. Boston has no bench either, hence trying to lure Reggie out of retirement.
  12. Mike Anthony added sooo much to Van Halen's sound. It won't be the same without him. Forget his bass. Mike's vocals are dominant on virtually every song.
  13. I love Patti even more after reading that.
  14. Ollie, I think it is right that Reggie never got a ring. I hated that fucker when he played and I certainly won't cheer for him if he comes out of retirement.
  15. I thought the one on Division closed when Davey Boy moved to Ottawa. Andre, I parked beside Mamma Mia just last week. Unless it's a tiny Hoagie House, it's a drug store. Help me out since I clearly need a spat-on grill, cheese-steak hoagie served by a plump O.P.H. graduate.
  16. I thought that this thread/topic was supposed to highlight guitarists that never or rarely take leads, but have established their own style and sound all on their own. Someone like John Lee Hooker was a unique rhythm guitarist as was Muddy Waters. Gordie Johnson is a really good modern era blues rhythm guitarist. Frank Black's guitar drives every Pixies song as does Paul Westerberg's in The Replacements. And Jack White used to be a great rhythm-only player, but that talented lunatic is obsessed with lead nowadays, so he's out.
  17. As for the Hoagie House, what one is still open? The one on Front Road is gone as is the one on Division and Brock Street.
  18. Don't forget about Barfield and Alan Ashby. It's been done before, using Jerry on TV broadcasts. Mike Wilner is another colour guy, although he's better suited as a stats man. So, that's 7 freaking colour guys not including Jerry, who's a colour guy when Alan switches to play-by-play. I was thinking last night that Sam would be a natural as the Jays'/Sportsnet's play-by-play man. He has a background in play-by-play and Campbell's contract isn't unending. Yes, Jamie should be worried.
  19. Del McCoury I'd like to say that according to Johnny Johnson and others from his band, Chuck was not a good rhythm player. His band had to adjust from gig to gig, song to song, since Chuck was erratic with his tunings and rhythms. I've always thought Chuck to be one of the great lead players.
  20. Drive In Classics is airing an old Bobby Darin film, which has prompted me to youtube the hell out of Bobby Darin music video clips. I love Bobby!
  21. Actually, Paul, George and John were all great rhythm and lead guitarists. Paul obviously still is.
  22. I'd like to add Paul Simon and James Hetfield too.
