  1. I could totally do that.. is that a request? feel the lack of metal majesty in your collection do you?

and if I did it it would only be power metal.. no hair metal, thrash, speed, death, black, proto, or any of those sub-genres..

strictly power metal, meaning strictly songs that make you want to stand on a mountain top and have your open shirt blowing behind you in the wind and rain as you scream with the devil.. YYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  2. it's "Power Metal Fridays" in the office today (it was one of my terms of employment.. no Power Metal Fridays.. no thatpatguy)

I've got Maiden, Priest, Sabath, Dio, 3 Inches of Blood, Helloween, Hammerfall, Manowar, Megadeath, pre-Black Album Metallica, Motorhead, Pantera, Slayer, Probot and just about everything inbetween.

So much rage.. so much anger.. so much majesty!

  3. I have the same editing complaints. I found it took a while to get going, and I think it should have done a better job explaining some of the legal aspects of everything right a the start. I was lost a couple of times but I held in there and was able to catch up.

I also though that it could have ended about a half hour before it really did.

It has been since it was in the theatres when I saw it so unfortunately I can't give you a shot by shot recount of what I though worked and what didn't but those were my thoughts leaving the theatre for sure.

Other than that I enjoyed it. And I thought it did a good job providing solutions that people from different walks of life and different socio-economic backgrounds could follow. The unfortunately reality is that we can't all boycott shopping at Wal-Mart. Some people just can't afford to shop anywhere else.

  4. a tad heavy on the Prefuse and madlib though...there's a funk load of stuff that could go on there as well...Coldcut, Roots Manuva (or anything from Ninja Tune really) DJ Krush, Souls of Mischeif, Gangstarr, Mr. Lif...but over all not a bad set of mixes...

I'm sure we could add another 10 volumes to this mix.. but all in all I see where the guy was going with this mix and I think he did a good job accomplishing what he set out to do.

He even introduced me to a couple of bands I didn't know..

  8. I'll probably check this out but Beck is kind of stretching the definition of hip hop really.

why would you say that man?

I guess we'd have to come up with a definition of hip hop then eh.. but that particular Beck track I'd be more than happy to call hip hop.

And if we want to get really technical none of this stuff is hip hop.. hip hop is a culture, rap is the music of hip hop.

    Volume 2 coming soon

  9. so a buddy of mine created a 4 disc compilation that he called Hip Hop For Haters.

He put the compilation together to give to people who say they hate hip hop music. What he was trying to do was show people that hip hop is so much more than the top 40 crap that gets all the radio play (50 Cent, Puff Daddy, etc) and it's not all about hos, bitches and popping caps in asses.

I'm not trying to say that people here think that about hip hop.. just giving you the guy's motive for putting together these compilations.

Anyway.. I'm going to share them here. I've loaded up the first disc onto sendspace.com and I'll load the other three over the next couple of days.

    Download, listen, enjoy, share!

    here is the link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8zib51

  10. Band Aide was always my favourite...

and I was always kinda embarrassed by at least the video for Tears Are Not Enough.. it was so low budget.. and I'm sorry.. that's so totally a local community TV studio, not a world class recording studio they are singing in.

I know it wasn't about the video or whatever.. but when you are a young kid you just wanted to see cool videos.. and this one isn't.. certainly not compared to the Band Aide or USA For Africa vids
