Not sure... going to start out and see how it goes. Given the fact that it's Friday the 13th I don't have high hopes but if it does end up going down then I want to see what goes down.

Sorry, that's the Town Ballroom's answering machine, not their website...
-
The Town Ballroom site says that the show will not be cancelled if the driving ban is lifted before tonight. Guess we'll just have to see what happens.

Rossollie and I had a pretty nasty drive home last night but the nasty part was fairly short lived. Hillarious to drive through the border when they have no power. I think things will shape up toward the end of the day. moe. go on @ 9:30 so keep that in mind. Happy Friday the 13th kids...

I would strongly suggest that you buy a panel TV-LCD or Plasma are both good. DLP/LCD Rear Projection and CRT will not exist in the near future which says alot. Replacing bulbs in projection sets is going to be a major expense and hassle as time wears on. Trust me on this one...
Plasma is best in terms of performance but if you plan on using it as a PC display or primarily for a video game system then it's not for you. Movies & TV are where these things clean up. Not the best for rooms with alot of windows where you watch during the day as the glass will reflect more light than the matte finish on an LCD. You'll hear a lot of bad talk about plasma but it's 99% BS.
LCD is better for brighter rooms, or if you plan on using it for the purposes mentioned above. Make sure that you buy an IPS or Super IPS if you decide on LCD, the ones that are not will look like shit if you are off center. It's easy to tell if an LCD set is not IPS, if you touch the screen and it ripples badly, it's not IPS. If you take 3-5 steps in either direction and skin tones and all other colours fade, then it's not IPS.

FYI, the show that they played there back in January of this year(great show by the way) did in fact sell out so I wouldn't leave it too late.

Only time will tell what will happen with these guys. They were as poised to take over the world in 2000/2001 in terms of their prowess as they are now(probably even more so) and when Angels Come On Time came out on Rykodisc you would have thought that their ship had landed at that point. Hopefully they get some people behind them that realize that they're worth $20US and deserve to play in decent venues with seats and good sound. These guys have been sold way short thus far. Time will tell...

Wait a minute...
The Slip IS trying to break my heart? Better get a new editor pal...
And, as I've said before, Brad is going to have to learn how to sing before The Slip are capable of lighting the world on fire. I'd love to see it happen but at a number of shows it has become apparent why some people just don't get these guys. Sometimes Brad's vocals are on and sometimes they're off and it's pretty much as simple as that. It has been suggested that having better sound and better monitors could help that aspect out. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens...

I'm just going to bump this here to save making alot of calls and PM's that I don't have time to make...
Also, we're at 65 Division Street in Guelph.

So, looks like I'm going to be hitting the big 30 this year. And, what better way to celebrate than with friends and a couple of kegs of Niagara Pale Ale am I right?
Anyhoo, needless to say I'm going to have trouble drinking all that beer by myself so consider yourself invited.
The plan is to hit up Chuck E Cheese in Cambridge(401 & HWY 24) for dinner at 7 or so which is also an open invite and then head back for shenanigans at 9.
Should be FUN!!!

Too bad you missed this:
09/03/06 (Sun) Snow Ridge Ski Mountain - Turin, NY
Set 1: Moth^ > New York City^, Down Boy, Waiting For The Punchline, Y.O.Y. > Moth* > Brent Black
In particular, the tail end of this set was one of the all time moe. down highlights IMHO. The bass action that Rob pulled during the Brent Black was unfreakinbelievable!!! Also, the Jazz Wank>Dr. Gaffenberg to open the second was quite tasty as well. Otherwise, I thought that Page was weak as well which was disappointing considering that he's my fave and the rest of the moe. action had solid highlights but nothing stood out like the Sunday night. Par for the course though...

Also, I didn't realize this but this show is now sold out!!!
-
FYI...I just listed this ticket on Ebay. Auction ends tomorrow morning at around 11:37 start price $10US. Could be a good deal for someone and I'm shipping via expresspost for free as well.

The 10:30am Saturday shows are tough to make, but they are almost always the BEST part of the whole thing. Wakey Bakey...

Any old Tim Hortons will yield many milk crates but unfortunately the new ones won't hold records. You'll have to try used stores or salvation army type places to get the oldschool ones.

I went into this one with low expectations and a clear head and found that they did really good justice to the material. It wasn't flawless by any means but they definitely nailed it pretty good, didn't miss many lyrics and overall it was an absolute blast. You wouldn't think that two sets of covers would be much to see but it was quite a good show. If anyone can comment on which of the two sources up on bt.etree.org is better I would appreciate it...
-
...funny, we were wondering where the Lukester was...
Also, I think that the intensity in your brain was intensifying how awesome all the sets that you mentioned were. Granted, there were some highlights but I wouldn't say that anything was really mind blowing from my vantage point. Can't wait to read the writeup in the Echo...

PM me if you want to do a B&P. My turnaround time is around a month give or take but if you've been waiting since 03' to hear it I doubt it's an issue. That show is a matrix of my mics(onstage) and the soundboard mixed by Sam, the Slips most excellent soundman.

Fuckin' slack teachers!
!!
!!
No, seriously congrats everybody. Gotta be nice to be free from the little brats for awhile. A good buddy of mine in Guelph here is a teacher and it's quite a job especially with the highschoolers. Anyways, gotta get back to work here...
...methinks I might want to be a teacher...

Bumping this up so that it can be on the front page for awhile longer. I never read anything on page 2 etc, guessing that alot of others are the same.

Not sure how much you want to throw down on a DVD audio player but the Toshiba SD4960 is supposedly a great sounding SACD/DVD Audio player on the cheap. I don't think that a standard player will properly process 24 bit/44.1-96k so keep that in mind when you're shopping.

Guess that's that for that. Would have been nice if they had announced it a bit sooner. We only made it to Stoney Creek before the venue's message was changed but still a couple hours of drinkin' time wasted. Better get to catchin' up now..
