  1. If you're planning on driving to CTMF from Toronto or east I would suggest another route then driving to Guelph (which will add an extra hour to the trip)

I grew up in the area and the fastest way to get there from Toronto is

401 west > 410 north > heart lake road > left onto Bovaird Rd > right on to highway 10 (aka hurontaio) then stay on highway 10 until you reach a little town called MARKDALE (which will take about 2 hours from downtown Toronto) > turn left at the lights in Markdale (the only ones) onto Main st > stay on this road (county road 12) for about 10 minutes > Then you will see the sign for frontier ghosttown on the left side of the road > turn left and enjoy.

Like I said if you drive to Guelph first and go up highway 6 this will add at least 1 hour to the trip.

Here is a mapquest link for Toronto to Markdale

Toronto to markdale via mapquest > then turn left in Mardale and follow that road until you see Ghosttown on the left hand side

  2. I'm searching high and low for one of these Kay Fuzztones

    kay_fuzztone_001.jpg

Check out this store . They have one for $125 usd

What's the attraction? I like the idea of a filter sweep with a fuzz tone, sounds cool. Hvae you played one before?

  3. I've really been into CACTUS One of the best hard rock boogie blues bands of all time. The orginal line up only lasted 2 years and 3 albums.

Cactus was formed in 1970 by ex-Vanilla Fudge members Tim Bogert on bass and Carmine Appice on drums. Their original idea was to form a supergroup in the vein of Cream or Led Zeppelin. The group was supposed to be rounded out by Jeff Beck on guitar and Rod Stewart on vocals. The idea was put on ice after Beck was sidelined indefinitely as the result of a car accident and Rod Stewart elected to join the Faces with fellow Beck Group band mate Ronnie Wood. Instead Bogert and Appice tabbed Jim McCarty ex-Detroit Wheel and Buddy Miles Express guitarist to handle the frets. Another musician with Detroit ties Rusty Day ex-Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes handled vocals and harmonica.

Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice did go on to work with Jeff Beck on this album

If you like bands like Ten Years After and Zepplin then you will love CACTUS .

  4. This is from that link,

I did 40g of mushrooms in one go once and became only too aware of my mortality. The effects they can have cannot be predicted and it's ridiculous to expect any meaningful research to come out of this....Ian Steele, Kettering, UK

I predicte that if you eat 40 grams of mushroom at once you will be VERY high.

  5. Happy Birthday Mary. I could tell by my brother's 9am call this morning that you guys celebrated in style.

I was going to post a picture of a cake with your name on it but instead thought I would post this...

  6. Joel Plaskett and the Emergency are one of the premiere rock bands around. Last time I saw them they were starting to extend some of the solos in what someone might call almost jamming, it was fucking great. Totally got my freak on.

Looking forward to catching some shows.

  7. Any other outa towners making the trek for this? :)

BoogieKnight and Princess Layers....if y'all are coming mabey yas could try and wrestle CoPs cousin..miss shannon..with yas. :)

...oh and one Big Friendly stranger would be awefully sweet too!

Unfortunatly, We are not going to be able to amke this one. I got a booth at the farmers market to sell my glass jewelery and have to be there at 6 am on Saturday. Also Amber is going to be on the radio sunday morning, for a health show.(very exciting) So maybe next time.

Looking forward to hearing the tapes of this one. Should be a smoker.

    devotchka.jpg UNA VOLTA

"Drowning in oceans of lust, wailing hopeless lovers' oaths and going toe to toe with oblivion itself. DeVotchKa counteracts such reckless conduct by issuing consistently beguiling sonic tapestries that weave together all the colorful threads of Eastern European music, American folk, postmodern jazz, classical and mariachi. Recorded in the sweltering climes of Arizona with production help from waveLab Studio's Craig Schumacher (Giant Sand, Calexico, Friends of Dean Martinez), Volta finds the rootsy and operatic quartet in the midst of warmer musical dynamics as well."

    devotchka2.jpg SUPERMELODRAMA

Supermelodrama wasvoted one of the top ten indie releases of 2000 by Westword magazine.

"Something that combines hypnotically stringed gypsy flavored rhytms with bouncy slavic circus music. Neoclassical chamber roots rock that's as joyously energetic as it is cloaked in mystery."

-Jon La Briola, Westword Magazine 2000

"DeVotchKa has released one of the most visionary and exciting albums we've seen in a long time"
