MattyC
Ya man.. Dreamweaver 4 is the latest.. Its the one I use too.. I like it, but its pretty similar to front page..
bouche
I use dreamweaver 4 ultradev, which allows for asp coding a little more conveniently. I use to use frontpage, but trashed it as soon as I saw dreamweaver being used.Flash is cool, but you are dependant on too much to make an entire site with it. A lot of people's computers grind to a halt when they have to animate an entire page that's been nicely crafted with flash.
CyberHippie
I'm a programmer, so for me the only choice is Allaire's Homesite. I like to work with the code a lot of programs like front page really make a mess out of your code.
bouche
I downloaded a version of homesite once, but I never really gave it a fair shot. It's a macromedia product now too anyways.I don't really know what the benefits of that one are.
h
i know that my friend jenn worked on one of the govt websites where they were using homesite... not sure what she thought of it though, she's since gone back to dreamweaver...i wrote her an email, here's what she replied, pretty much what cyberhippie said anyway:******************* Homesite is good it is almost the same as coding yourself though cause sometimes it is faster to just type it out yourself. I still use it were I am. I however prefer Dreamweaver and probably always will.
arcane
I manage two Web sites. For the company site, I use FrontPage--it's what we have, and if you wanna be a pro, you have to learn to accept the available tools, whether you like them or not. Besides, FP does have a few nice features, if you're careful to keep it from mangling your scripts and layout. HTML is a must with FP, unless you really want to be driven 'round the twist.I will not be defeated by The Borg. Bwah hah. That having been said, I've heard Dreamweaver is much better, and if you're making a purchasing decision, survey says that's the one you'd prefer. For the club site, I use Amaya (free from W3C, http://www.w3.org/) and Notepad. With Win 95 and 16 MB of RAM--which are what I have on my home machine--*nothing* is pretty. For CSS, I use TopStyle Lite (http://www.bradsoft.com/). It's free, and it does everything I need it to do.
