Mr. Musicface
My first ever Q of the D. Hoo-ha! So here goes: what do you think is a good looking band or artist website? Not necessarily your favorite artist, I don't even care if it's some lame boyband or MOR schlockmyster, but what band site have you been to lately that makes you go "wow, that looks cool"? The context FYI: some of you may know that I host a number of music sites on my server at www.musicface.com, including Uncle Seth. We've been talking about re-doing the band site for the new year, and I'm curious to know what people in the scene find visually appealing. Tara, the Uncle Seth singer, really likes this site and I agree: www.erinsmithband.com A great band to boot, but the design based on Erin's art and executed by Janine Stoll (who also has a great site) is definitely vibrant and catches your attention. No bells and whistles, just strong visual design. Anyway, there ya go - bring it on! Peace, Mr. M.
Booche
Keep your webpage simple. Thats all I know. As far a prettiness is concerned? You CANT beat this guy (although, I would like to ):
Phred
HA HA HAA!!! My wife tells me that is my "sexy, come hither" look. She should know... But I think it looks like my "I need more fibre in my diet" look Thanks Booche... I had a good laugh Phred
Davey Boy 2.0
Awwww Phred, such a handsome devil. As far as I';m concerned the Phish site is about the coolest I've run across. The official Miles Davis one is pretty neat in that it has that smoky dimly-lit bar feel to it. dead.net has tonnes of info and the home page makes stuff eay to find. Mr. Musicface
quote:As far as I';m concerned the Phish site is about the coolest I've run across.I like the "O-Phish-al" at www.phish.com site, but personally I think all the Flash stuff makes the thing take too long and makes it a bit cluttered. I personally tend to spend more time at www.phish.net - it ain't sure pretty, but it gets right to the point. I'm with Booche on this generally, I like simple, but I'm also trying to split the difference with something that has a strong visual aspect. It's a hard balance. Peace, Mr. M. weezy
The Disco Biscuits have a pretty cool site. I don't mind flash, as long as it is done in a minimalist fashion. Also, Particle's new site is bitchen as well...
Mr. Musicface
Yeh the Bisco site is definitely cool - I dig the ninja guy, it would be even cool if he did something when you click on him or something. Hadn't seen Particle before, thanks weezy! - M.
NewRider
best fan site for a band Philzone.com I also really like Dylan's site www.bobdylan.com I like how you can search every song ever released
backbacon
I always liked Moonshine Still's. The pattern is different than the last time but it still has that water effect that's pretty wild. Also the way it diffuses when you go somewhere else. Jaimoe
I like non-music sites like Ain't It Cool, Bruce Campbell On-line & The Sci-fi Wire. Tons of great movie and television scoops, news and reviews. Derek Trucks' website is well run. So too is The Allman Brothers.
Mr. Phantasy
I agree with JaiMoe, the Allman brothers have a good site and sodoes MMW; I think the Bells and Whistles do make it look complicated but it can make some sort of connections with the fellow fans. doug
I like the Jupiter Coyote site. From a different perspective - sites that have slow loading flash animations and useless junk to wade through before getting to any meaningful info are very annoying. I tend to avoid those.
