bONES
the first concert ever thread had me thinking back to the shows of yesterday. I remember a couple concerts i went to where the performers were SO wasted (on alcohol...i thought at the time) that they stand out as disappointing to say the least. 1...Dylan 1987 CNE w/ Timbuk 3 Bob was hammered! The show lasted 45mins tops and i couldn't understand a word of what he mumbled. 2...Stompin' Tom @ Mariposa Folk Fest, Barrie 1989?or90 At least Tom's drunken performance was funny! After having Melissa Etheridge on before him, even a wasted beyond ability Tom was better than she was
Booche
David Wilcox Seriously, is there anyone worse? At a gig at Stages, I think he drank pertty near'ed a forty before hitting the stage, and continued on into the night, which lasted much less than an hour. There is another night I can think off, lets just say: 1st Tube

Strange... Dylan never played the CNE in 87.... Only North American shows were with the GD none of which were in Canada. July 4 Sullivan Stadium, Foxboro, Massachusetts 10 John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 12 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey 19 Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Oregon 24 Oakland Stadium, Oakland, Californi 26 Anaheim Stadium, Anaheim, California The rest were in europe. He played the CNE 08/29/88 Set 1 Subterranean Homesick Blues Absolutely Sweet Marie Masters Of War Simple Twist Of Fate Shelter From The Storm Highway 61 Revisited Set 2 Girl From The North Country Don't Think Twice It's All Right One Too Many Mornings Barbara Allen I Shall Be Released Silvio Like A Rolling Stone E: It Ain't Me Babe All Along The Watchtower Knockin' On Heaven's Door {edited to add} Correct playing time of show is around 78+ minutes. The studio tracks of those songs total more then 45 miutes. Also Dylan wasn't drinking during the late eighties... As for taking the cake wasted... Wicox without a doubt,in 86 I was living in wasaga beach for the summer working in Alliston we seen him twice, both times he fell over while playing, even out of his chair during second set. bONES
Strange... Dylan never played the CNE in 87.... hmmmm, well i certainly won't debate Esau on Dylan trivia! i'll have to go back and check out my ticket stub. Did you make that show Greg? Was it earlier/later than my memory tells? I know Timbuk 3 opened for sure... maybe it was me wasted to the point of mumbling that only lasted 45 mins. ::

Pablo Sanchez
Joe Walsh. Maybe not anymore, but promoters used to have to stand him up after he downed entire bottles of whisky and puch him onto the stage. He's a professional all right. I only saw him once and he didn't seem too wasted. But his stories of drunkeness and falling off stages are legendary.

But as far as CAWK rock goes, nobody got more fucked up than Motely crew. well, maybe megadeth. once dave mustaine got booted from metallica it was a gong show. you name it, they did it. and lived to tell about it is the crazy part.
