Visitors there yesterday reacted in different ways to news of Veal's suicide. Bobbie Jensen, 54, a Republican from Phoenix, said that while she understood how Bush's victory disturbed those who dislike him, Ground Zero is not the place to act on those emotions.

"You can be upset about the war, about Bush, but this is a sacred place," she said. "You got to accept what happened and not kill yourself.

gimme a fu©kin break. ground zero, or the idea of ground zero, all that it encompasses, is the reason for the state of america these days. the great divide. bush clutched that throughout the entire campaign and rode that to victory. that victory is hurting a lot of people, clearly, some more than others. so, if one feels that strongly about it, and wishes to do oneself in over it, personally, i cant think of a more perfect place. maybe the front steps of the white house, but good luck getting a gun that close...

It's incredibly sad that this guy saw no other option but to kill himself over an election result. The next four years are going to go by as fast as the last four and then the democrats get another crack at taking control of the Whitehouse. Sure wish this guy had decided to stick around and fight for his beliefs.

Three years later and people are still dying at ground zero. Unbelievable.
