Guest Low Roller
I have just acquired Picaresque by the band The Decemberists, and I am completely hooked like nothing before it. The album is simply brilliant from start to finish, especially songs like 'Eli, The Barrow Boy' and 'From My Own True Love (Lost At Sea)'. This album is possibly the perfect mating of folk music, mariner melodies, and college indie rock as played on acoustic guitar.Anybody else listened to their albums? zero
I don't get the buzz about this band whatsoever.
Jaimoe
I watched their gig when they were on KCRW. Not bad. I'm not really a fan of jangle-pop ( excluding The Byrds ), but The Decemberists are alright.
Guest Low Roller
I don't get the buzz about this band whatsoever. What gets me is that I get that nice fuzzy feeling in my gut when I listen to them. It's happy music with an original sound partially due to the accordian/pedal steel combination in the band. Some of the cheesier songs may be tunes you'd hear on Scrubs or the OC, but all in all they are a refreshingly original band.
bouche
that's on my iPod, and i've listened to it once at work. I liked it, but I must say I was distracted because I was doing some major HEAVY coding on some very complicated system
Guest Low Roller
But I bet you had a warm fuzzy feeling while working and you didn't even know why...
LJFH
funny, I just caught on to these guys and I'm pleasantly surprised. I enjoy them. Some silly good lyrics, simple, happy/strange songs. Makes me feel like going on a road trip and singing on a nice sunny day!

dave-O
The question I haven't answered for myself yet is, do The Decemberists own a really good thesaurus or are they making up words?
Guest Low Roller
They use perfectly cromulent words in their lyrics. You, sir, are a festisio.
