First a summary of the week-end activities:

Item #1

LW - Andrew Brunette, Colorado Avalanche, signed a 2 year deal

LW - Ray Whitney, Carolina Hurricanes, signed a 2 year deal worth $3 million

C - Scott Nichol signed with Nashville Predators

RW - Zigmund Palffy, Pittsburgh Penguins, signed for 3 years, $13.5 million

RW - Milan Hejduk, signs with Colorado Avalanche for 5 years, $19.5 million

Item #2

Will Wayne Gretzky be announced as the head coach for the Pheonix Coyotes today? Rumours are swirling....

Item #3

The Flyers, as good as they look offensively, do not have a goalie signed yet. Esche, Burke, and Hackett are all still free agents. The Habs need to resign Theodore in the worst way, and the Sens need a viable goalie once Hasek goes down to a crippling injury.

Bring on the news!

Rick Nash is rumoured to be signing a 5 year deal with Columbus worth $27M. Maybe this will get confirmed today.

According to RDS, the negotiations between the Habs and Theodore's agent are set to begin today. It's kinda scary that it's taken this long, but I suppose Bob Gainey was busy trying to sign unrestricted free agents before he starts worrying about the restricted ones.

A rumour swirling around is a trade between Florida and Montreal: Luongo for Theodore.

Monday morning rumour mill:

- Pittsburg is expected to add a center, perhaps Jozef Stumpel, who like Palffy last played for the Los Angeles Kings in 2003-04; another defenseman; and a goalie, possibly Curtis Joseph or Sean Burke.

- Mark Messier may re-join the Oilers for a farewell tour.

- Atlanta could have interest in Teemu Selanne (who is represented by Don Baizley, Dany Heatley's new agent) or Peter Bondra.

- Pavel Bure not coming back. His agent said Bure won't play because he doesn't want to undergo knee reconstruction.

- Rumours now point to Lindros not signing in Toronto after-all. "The Big E" is gonna have a hard time finding a new team. A history of concussion injuries will do that.

- Veteran goaltender Sean Burke is expected to sign with a club today, either Calgary or Pittsburg. The Penguins are also interested in Curis Joseph.

- Teams that might have some interest in Jocelyn Thibault include the Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, Vancouver Canucks, and possibly the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Here are some more rumors (a few have been already seen on here). The RDS ones are ridiculous.

Jason Marshall - Possibly to Anaheim

Mike Dunham - Phoenix is interested

Anson Carter - Possibly in Toronto but it seems Edmonton is the only team really interested.

Thibeault - Supposedly being shopped by the 'Hawks...Vancouver and Phoenix are interested.

Mogilny - Rumors are he's going to Washington to join Ovechkin.

Klee - Is supposedly being shopped by Toronto

Lindros - Supposedly pretty much signed by Toronto, Calgary, San Jose and Nashville were said to be interested but it looks as iof Calgary and Nashville have pulled out with their signings.

Selanne - Montreal and LA seemed to be interested earlier now it's pretty much St. Louis or Atlanta.

John Leclair - Possibly NYR with Lindros, supposedly Boston is interested. I think the rumors are he'd come cheap.

Hamrlik - Carolina is the big rumor though Boston has also been rumored. Could go to Buffalo they're after a defenseman.

Giguere - Was supposedly being shopped, to be replaced by Burke or Shields. Could free up salary room.

Curtis Joseph - Supposedly intrigued by Pittsburgh, Edmonton has also been said to be interested, maybe to Toronto, now St. Louis is after him (WHY?)

Poti - Supposedly being traded to Vancouver.

Sean Burke - Either Pittsburgh or Tampa, though again maybe Toronto.

Zetterberg/Datsyuk - Rumoured to Toronto, either in various trades (most notably rumored to leave Toronto are Antropov, Belfour, and Belak), or as restricted free agent signings (as Detroit wouldn't have alot of room to match)

Lecavalier - Rds.ca is obsessed with him going to the Habs. Supposedly Koivu a draft pick and a prospect in exchange. (ie. Carey Price?)

Luongo - Again Rds.ca is obsessed with him going to the Habs, trade scenario is Theodore and Ryder to Florida in exchange for him.

Osgood - Possibly signed again by Detroit.

Belfour - Maybe out of Toronto as a salary dump, TB is one destination I've heard, Detroit possibly too.

Denis - Supposedly with the signing of Prusek he could be on the block, either to TB or Detroit.

Yanic Perreault - Word is he might be interested in going back to Toronto where he was most productive..would give the Leafs a solid line-up of centremen like Sundin, Allison, Perreault, Stajan.

Joe Thornton - Insane people have said he could go norht of the border to Ottawa or Toronto. (To Toronto in a 3 way trade involving Daze and Belfour)

Bondra - Originally rumored to Washington, San Jose and New Jersey have also been rumored destinations, now Atlanta is seeming to be the most after him.

McCabe - Rumor is he may be on the block to Washington.

Isn't RDS great? Lecavalier in Montreal would give the Hab fans a hometown hero not seen since the days of Guy Lafleur. It would be a PR coup if they manage to pull this off. Koivu is the captain, so I wouldn't be surprised if they trade him even if he represents the grit and determination that personified the Habs last season.

Theodore may be looking to get out of Montreal after that whole Hell's Angels mess his family was involved in. It's not a completely impossible proposition. It would be sad to see Micheal Ryder go though.

You'd love to see Lecavalier in Montreal. Admit it. The RDS writers are just a bunch of Hab marks.

Haha... I just read a ridiculous rumour on some fanboy site that Lindros is going to sign with Toronto as a defenseman. How the mighty have fallen...

Will Wayne Gretzky be announced as the head coach for the Pheonix Coyotes today? Rumours are swirling....

This will be announced this afternoon.

Just my opinion, but I think he's not a good choice for coach. He's too much of a nice guy. Also, his lip tends to quiver when he gets upset (recall his attempt to be inspirational during the 2002 Olympics) and it looks like he's going to cry. This won't inspire his team.

Gretz seems like a calculating sort of individual, so I am sure he has thought long and hard about this. Heck, its been out there for months and months and months so you know he has done his research.

I, for one, cant wait to see what this brings. The more Gretzky, the better.
