Drifting--Trey

That's a great love song.

I've been drifting

For years it seems

But now you've come along

to rescue me

And the fog has lifted

We've got the moon and the stars above

since you came along (love, love, love)

Back where I belong (love, love, love)

since you rescued me (love, love, love)

the whole world is there to see (love, love, love)

Cause the storm has lifted

We've got the moon and the stars above

In the morning

It's plain to see

Smell coffee in the air

You're here with me

I'm Walking down the street (love, love, love)

The sun beams down

The grass is cool beneath my feet (love, love, love)

My head is spinning round

But the storm has lifted

We've got the moon and the stars above

how about Built to Last?

i love it. although it's not completely rosy.

did they play that tune live btw? i don't remember ever hearing it...

I think it's a beautiful tune, though I seem to remember hearing Jerry reaching really hard to hit some of those notes (geez, you'd think he'd have had something to say about the register they played it in). I like how they did in that Alpine '89 run - 1989-07-17 - which is a great first set at any rate (also released as Downhill from Here). I remember another one that took them into drums from I think the same summer, but I can't recall which show exactly.

Oh, wait, 1989-04-06 - (I do love the Archive) (that show also has the most ass-kickin' Hammond swell in Around and Around, but I guess that's neither here nor there, unless it can be turned to romantic ends...).

That was my very first show!

I was dragged there, kicking and screaming as a young punk-rocker, by my friend Mark. I finally told Mark that I'd go so that he'd finally shut up and leave me alone about the Grateful Dead.

(Mark and I did Grateful Dead Summer Tour together 3 months later.)
