I could never get quite clear whether it was a) an instinctual affirmation of my latent procreative potential (the plumbing on this guy seems to be in working order), some synaptic fusion of my face with the baby's (average [meh + baby cute] = not bad, on balance), c) or just the fact that I was evidently inaccessible and I could be harmlessly flirted with. I dunno. I'm a much older fart now, so this is all a bit academic to me. I do know that I value the beauty of the female friends I have, and at the end of the day am grateful for the wonder of the whole arrangement, all of life's trials and errors notwithstanding.
