food recall/allergy alert email service

this service is quite worthwhile to subscribe to...

there's usually only a few alerts per month, so it doesn't "clog" one's inbox.

For example, I just learned: currently cadbury choc eggs are being recalled due to hard plastic bits inside them, a whole buncha brands of canned sausages (in BC) have (or may have) botulism, there's undeclared egg and wheat protein in a mango/rice thingee, and undeclared peanut protein in nestle Coffee Crisp.

the email alerts give all needed info, like product description, UPC codes, areas product was distributed, etc and comany contact numbers (if you want to try to sue, I suppose)

Yeah, I've found that this is the usual sort of recall (undeclared egg, wheat, or sometimes more seriously, peanut protein)

There are also fairly frequent recalls on Asian, African, Middle Eastern foodstuffs due to illegal food colourants (known carcinogens).

However, I was really surprised to see the sausage-botulism one...that's pretty serious and I thought it would make the news. Maybe only after a "reported Illness"....?

anyway, it's really handy for people with allergies / food sensitivities to get this info in this way
