CyberHippie
Got my first ever speeding ticket today... The jack-ass was set-up at the X in an unmarked car just waiting for prey. Now I gotta do down to the courthouse, and set a trial date in order to cut the fine in half and not have to loose points. Son of a!!
mattm
Check if they have a test you can write. My buddy got caught around there somewhere and he just had to pay the fine, write a VERY easy test and no points came off (ticket gets thrown away and you only get it once in one year). You do still have to pay the whole fine though. I'm not sure which cities do this but I know several do.
YearsAlongTheSea
All I have to say is knock on wood and pat yourself on the back, if this is your first one, you've got a good run going.Cheer up, it's taxes and karma, and what goes around, comes around. CyberHippie
lol, no not drunk...I was going 52 in a 30 zone... So yeah I was speeding, but jeez it's not like i was going 80 or anything. And come on, 30km? That's impossible to drive at that speed. That porky camper is gonna be raking in the cash today. CyberHippie
Yeah I did the crime... But these cash grabs are bullshit. Meanwhile *real* crime is going on a couple of blocks away in Parkdale.

boogieknight
There is always cops on the EX grounds. You really have to watch your speed when driving through there.
CyberHippie
I've driven that route for the last two and a half years and never seen anyone set up there. I guess they are on to me.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
All I can say is keep fighting it all along the way, even if all you manage to do is keep your points (and > insurance) down. There's always that lingering hope that the cop won't show up for the trial (which has happened for me before - it's good to remember that cops keep busy lives). CyberHippie
yeah unfortunatley in the GTA they get paid overtime for court appearances. So for many, showing up has become a lucrative side biz...
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Crud. What a scam. I used to wake up in the morning when we lived on Ossington to the sound of a pair of cops on our front step burning people in speed traps, hoping they could finish their book of tickets soon so they could go get a coffee (it always made me smile, though, how much they sounded like the Cherry Beach cops on Kids in the Hall). mattm
Plead guilty with an explanation and say that you will be a student soon and can't afford to pay the ticket. It's worked for me three times now and was only true once. I got one ticket down from $125 to $30, 6 months to pay and no points.
