Ted Haggard gaysexmeth meltdown!

Well boys and girls seems like X-mas has come early for Democrats as Ted Haggard, who is associated with the White House and a staunch anti gay right winger, has been exposed as a gay sex having meth snortin, hypocrate!

---------------------------------------------

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Embattled national evangelical leader the Rev. Ted Haggard admitted Friday that he bought methamphetamines and received a massage from a gay prostitute, but denies he ever used the drug or had sex with the man.

"I bought it for myself but never used it," Haggard told reporters gathered outside his home. "I was tempted but I never used it."

Haggard, 50, a married father of five, who resigned his post as head of the thirty million member National Association of Evangelicals, said he never had sex with Mike Jones, a 49-year-old gay escort who claims to have had a drug-laced three year tryst with Haggard.

Haggard, who was leaving his home with his wife and three of his five children, said he bought the methamphetamine because he was curious. He claimed he threw it away.

Haggard earlier claimed charges against him were untrue, and were political retribution for his campaign in support of a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

Haggard, pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church, announced his resignation on Thursday.

"I am voluntarily stepping aside from leadership so that the overseer process can be allowed to proceed with integrity," Haggard said in a statement. "I hope to be able to discuss this matter in more detail at a later date. In the interim, I will seek both spiritual advice and guidance."

Haggard also gave up his post at the church.

A pastor at Haggard's church, Ross Parsley, sent an e-mail to congregants saying Haggard "confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations against him are true."

"It is important for you to know that he confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations against him are true. He has willingly and humbly submitted to the authority of the board of overseers, and will remain on administrative leave during the course of the investigation," the e-mail stated. A copy was obtained by KMGH-TV in Denver.

Late Wednesday, Haggard told KUSA-TV: "I've never had a gay relationship with anybody, and I'm steady with my wife, I'm faithful to my wife."

Among the allegations made by Jones was that Haggard paid him for sex and snorted methamphetamine with him before their sexual encounters to heighten the experience.

Jones said he decided to go public with his story because of Haggard's opposition to the proposed state ban on gay marriage.

"I just want people to step back and take a look and say, 'Look, we're all sinners, we all have faults, but if two people want to get married, just let them, and let them have a happy life,'" said Jones, who added that he is gay and is not working for any political group.

"It made me angry that here's someone preaching about gay marriage and going behind the scenes having gay sex," he said.

Colorado voters will decide on the gay-marriage ban amendment when they vote next Tuesday.

Jones claimed Haggard paid him to have sex nearly every month over three years. He said he advertised himself as an escort on the Internet and was contacted by a man who called himself Art.

Jones said he later saw the man on television identified as Haggard and that the two last had sex in August.

He said he has voice mail messages from Haggard, as well as an envelope he said Haggard used to mail him cash. He declined to make the voice mails available to the AP, but KUSA-TV reported what it said were excerpts late Thursday that referred to methamphetamine.

"Hi Mike, this is Art," one call began, according to the station. "Hey, I was just calling to see if we could get any more. Either $100 or $200 supply."

A second message, left a few hours later, began: "Hi Mike, this is Art, I am here in Denver and sorry that I missed you. But as I said, if you want to go ahead and get the stuff, then that would be great. And I'll get it sometime next week or the week after or whenever."

Carolyn Haggard, spokeswoman for the New Life Church and the pastor's niece, said a four-member church panel will investigate the allegations. The board has the authority to discipline Haggard, including removing him from ministry work.

The allegations stunned church members.

"It's political, right before the elections," said Brian Boals, a New Life member for 17 years.

Church member E.J. Cox, 25, called the claims "ridiculous."

"People are always saying stuff about Pastor Ted," she said. "You just sort of blow it off. He's just like anyone else in the public eye."

Haggard, 50, was appointed president of the evangelicals association in March 2003. He has participated in conservative Christian leaders' conference calls with White House staffers and lobbied members of Congress last year on U.S. Supreme Court appointees after Sandra Day O'Connor announced her retirement.

After Massachusetts legalized gay marriage in 2004, Haggard and others began organizing state-by-state opposition. Last year, Haggard and officials from the nearby Christian ministry Focus on the Family announced plans to push Colorado's gay marriage ban for the 2006 ballot.

At the time, Haggard said that he believed marriage is a union between a man and woman rooted in centuries of tradition, and that research shows it's the best family unit for children.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

X-mas has come early for Democrats

what's to celebrate about this story?

I think it's pretty sad and even sadder that we as a society feel the need to rub that little bit of salt in just to make a bad situation even worse.

if we could only find a way to make politics not turn everything so sour and ugly!!

Kharma!!! Those who seek the spotlight like these media-whores and spout their hate, deserve to have it come back and bite them in the ass as hard as they give it out.

Watch Ted bash Gays in Jesus Camp the movie:

Mame, there is much to celibrate. A hurtful right wing conservative, gay hating, repbulican has been exposed for the very things he says he stands against. That in itself is cause for joy. It is also good to know that Karma will get your ass, if you break it and Haggard certainly did.

Furthermore it makes the republican efforts to make John Kerry's "badly delivered joke", seem like an issue, a non-issue in light of all this.

And just before mid-terms, sweet. But don't worry about Haggard if he is truly a religious man he can repent and ask for forgiveness (at least he's used to being onhis knees.). That's more than he and his religion offers gays!

P.S. Politics are sour and inflamitory by nature as they inpact our very lives by the power they give to officials. And this is not a bad situation getting worse. This is a bad situation getting rectified and justice being served.

You're right chameleon, karma bit this guy in the ass and he's screwed... justification for all the crap he's spouted over the years.

but really, are we REALLY better people for sitting in here reveling in someone elses misery? this guy's life as he knows it is over and for good reason, but still there exists a fellow human being, however jaded by his beliefs he may be, that is left to sit alone with his demons and to face this horrific nightmare over and over and over and over again. And then there's us, to come in and to kick him when he's down and to say "haha, sucker, you get what you deserve" and spit in his face. I don't know about you guys, but when i see this kind of behaviour in a fight it makes me sick.

So no Hux, I don't sympathize with him, but I do have faith in us to be better people, to not kick someone when they're down, no matter how strongly you feel about it all. He's down, enough said. Done.

And chameleon, i'm sorry you feel politics have to be sour and inflammatory. that's really sad.

Ted Haggard's life is not "over". The great thing about the circle of people he used to have power over is that they are so ultimately gullible. The evangelicals are all about confessing your sins. It's easy. You fuck up, blame satan for making you stray, confess your sins, BAM! you're clean and born again without sin to start anew. There is no "3 strikes and you're out" rule. This is endless. It's a farce. Trust me, Ted will be preaching to the masses again. Remember this guy????

OK, well maybe his face wouldn't be so scary or vomit-inducing if I included it on the cover of a magazine:

People like Ted Haggard deserve to be kicked when they are down.

And yes we are better people.

Pat Robertson needs to be brought down too. That is one SCARY dude!

True, but he's not entirely in the same camp as the Falwell and Dobson; he's much more charismatic (in the theological sense) and, well, Pentecostal, which just isn't sober enough for them. Plus, his vision of the end-times is so soaked in old-school Illuminati-style conspiracy theory that it makes them uncomfortable as well (he basically rewrote the Jewish banking conspiracy without using the word "Jewish").

My Karma is paid in full Birdy I invest in it everyday. And my routing of Ted Haggrd is part of that. Besides it's not like this tread has any impact on Haggard or his people. It's simply a forum for open discusion an disourse. My views ulimately will have no impact Karmic or otherwise.

So enough with the hyper sensitivity for a lying, hurtful, gay methead, preacher already.

And becuase none of us are in that camp..we can make that judgement.

Thanks for your concern....

And becuase none of us are in that camp..we can make that judgement.

True ... and what makes it more maddening is that some of us have relatives in that camp!!!! My dad and his wife became 'born again' a few years ago. I've been able to keep them tame when we get together, but it seeps through. When they try to brainwash my 2 and 4 year old kids I have to draw the line!

So many evangelicals like Haggard, are two-faced hypocrites. It's enough to drive you insane and impossible to try to get any reason through their thick skulls.

Long live pagan holidays like Halloween :) It drives them nuts seeing their kids dressed up as ghouls, devils, and having fun.

It's not hypersensitivity chameleon' date=' it's how to act and how not to act. [/quote']

To bad Ted Haggard didn't get your advice. Seem poigniant.

PROGRESS! If you're admitting it's 'too bad' that he didn't get the advice, you must be saying it's decent advice!!! and that not following it, is reason enough to lament not following it!!!

I'm sorry I didn't put my comment in purple so it was clear.

Look yes it is good advice. However I feel nothing wrong in airing opinions about someone as vile as this man.

I also think its odd you find my comments more problematic than the actual event I'm commenting on an ddirect that advice to me. I wasn't the one who lied to America and waged a hate campaign on gays.

In amy case if you want a victory in the war of symmantics than cool, take it.

I could care less.

I'm out. (but not out in the gaymethsex Ted Haggard, I just admitted to something I recently denied way, I'm just done with the tread).

that's cool... i've bowed out of a few threads myself! :)

i know airing these kinds of opinions isn't the end of the world, i guess i'm just trying to represent another side that says 'finger pointing isn't nice'. thanks for putting up with me as long as you did!

ps. nice little disclaimer in brackets following your post! ;)
