My good friends of the acoustic duo 'Madgrass' are thrilled to be playing the Saturday (Feb. 3) of the upcoming Groundhog Fest. Anyone attending should make a point to check them out!

Here is a little info about them:

Madgrass' music has its roots embedded in the rich musical soil of the

Hidden Hills in the deep south of Canada.

Drawing on the sounds of Bill Monroe, Jerry Garcia, John Hartford, John

Prine and Neil Young among others, Madgrass has developed a unique bluegrass

sound. A sound that compliments their heady mix of Madgrass originals and

re-worked covers.

Nate (guitar/vocals) and Boss (mandolin/guitar/vocals) were both born

in Chatham, ON but, from there, went on their own musical journeys. Boss

moved down to Georgia where his grass turned blue and he formed the bands

Mandocoustic and Dillon's House Band. Nate's journey found him playing in

various outfits around Southwestern Ontario, notably Southwest Dirt. It

wasn't until this past summer that their musical journeys came to a head

when they found themselves trading licks between the flames of a friend's

campfire and Madgrass was born.

Between them they have had a song played regularly on the radio, shared

the stage with George Strait and jammed with such notables as Jeff Austin

(YMSB), The Rev. Jeff Mosier and Blueground Undergrass, and Shanty Grove.

Madgrass recently made their debut in those same Hidden Hills where

their musical roots began. They hope this to be their first steps in a long

musical journey filled with many similar experiences - smiling faces,

dancing bodies and the music they love.

It's really nice to finally have some bluegrass at one of these festies! I've been hoping for some since Ghostown first took shape! Kudos to the organizers!!

Really looking forward to this. Really looking forward to the whole weekend!
