They made a CD together, so I say that counts. Edited April 5, 2007 by Guest
AD
CSNY made music that wasn't released under other names previously. and they wrote together. dylan and the dead didn't compose together, record in a studio together, or probably even rehearse. dylan and the dead is a guest appearance at best, IMO. but it doesn't really matter. just sayin'. no need to edit, it's long gone. djmelbatoast
What about "Silvio" on Down in the Groove? That was writen with Robert Hunter and most of the Dead sing back-up.
MarcO
That would still be a guest appearance, not a super group. By this standard, the first New Riders of The Purple Sage album or David Crosby's first solo album could be eligible, but those weren't supergroups a la Blind Faith or Travelling Wilbury's. Esau.
That would still be a guest appearance, not a super group. By this standard, the first New Riders of The Purple Sage album or David Crosby's first solo album could be eligible, but those weren't supergroups a la Blind Faith or Travelling Wilbury's. I understand how they could be considered one though, given the exstensive rehearesals (6 CD collection) they had and a summer tour and all. But only Jerry, Bobby and Brent went into the studio with Dylan most of which was just for backing vocals for Silvo (Dylan/Hunter) on Dylan's "Down In The Groove". I guess it would be a guest appearence more then a supergroup. Although they did release the same amount of albums as Blind Faith. Anyway, no big deal just throwing my two cents in.
