PERFOMRING ARTISTS:

ill_scarlet.jpg

Ill Scarlett

A filthy dub, punk and reggae brand, wrapped up in a very accessible pop-package. Think Sublime meets No Doubt! With this formula they have become one of Toronto’s most popular offspring, drawing huge crowds everywhere they play!

King Sunshine

King Sunshine illuminates disco roots and drop inflections of funk and dance rhythms, reinventing house music and driving the whole fusion over the red line. Imagine nine musicians transformed into one live DJ. Comprised of keyboards/synths, heart pounding drums/percussion, deep bass, slick guitar, intense electronics, hefty horns and soulful vocals. King Sunshine has been lighting dance floors on fire since 1998 as a highly skilled and electric live act. With the release of their second album Second Movement in fall 06, King Sunshine is poised to branch out to new segments of music lovers worldwide. www.kingsunshine.com

The Irie Band

The Irie Band is a Toronto-based reggae outfit that delivers dub riddims in a classic, Jamaican late 70s and early 80s style. Formed in January 2006, the band is fronted by seasoned reggae veteran, Steven Cogdell. For six months, the band played a weekly gig called Irie Tuesdays at Cervejaria Downtown, that honed them into a tight, heavy unit. www.irieband.ca

KC Roberts

Led by singer/songwriter/lead guitarist KC Roberts, this seven-piece band is cleverly composed of drums, bass, trumpet, saxophone and female backup vocals. KC Roberts has already garnered praise from such accomplished artists as Sass Jordan and Juno Award Winner Carlos Morgan (aka Carll Parkes). Look for more shows from KC Roberts at home and across the country in 2006. With more recordings also on the horizon, this band is just getting warmed up. www.kcroberts.ca

Dr. Payne & The Diesease

Formed in 2003, Dr. Payne and the Disease was originally only a last-minute replacement when guitarist Ben Payne found himself with a gig and no band. He assembled a group of his closest friends and threw together a repertoire of some of their favorite funk and jazz standards. After the performance, the response was so positive that the only logical choice was to continue with the band. www.thedisease.ca

Keeping 6

Formed in 2003 by 4 lifelong friends; drummer Matt “Phatty†Wilkinson, guitarist Jason Wilford, bassist Dan Renwick and vocalist Bryan Hotchkiss, KEEPIN’ 6 is a band who’s high energy, and hook-heavy songs blend the best of influences ranging from The Police to Operation Ivy to the Foo Fighters. And truth be told, if there’s a band that can sonically bridge the gap between Billy Talent and Sublime, well that band is definitely KEEPIN’ 6. In late 2004 the band released their first indie CD/EP “KEEPIN’ 6 6-PACKâ€. Tracks from that release have been featured on EDGE 102.1 (Toronto) and charted at Ontario College radio. With another non-stop tour schedule already in the planning - and the imminent release of their debut album - 2007 will undoubtedly be the year that KEEEPIN’ 6 finds legions of new fans world-wide.
