S'mores

What's the best chocolate to use? I don't really eat chocolate or marshmallows...but the last time I tried the chocolate didn't melt. Is it supposed to?

The chocolate must be Hershey's bars, the regular ones you find in the grocery store checkout line. Not those big King Size bars nor those little ones that cheap people hand out at Halloween. Spare no expense getting the right chocolate bars. You can get these in the candy aisle in 6-packs.

personally i would try some kinda good quality dark chocolate but that's me.

lindt 65-70% cocoa chocolate would probably ROCK!

but, bradm's link is right. for classic smores, you must use hershey's milk chocolate squares. Although, going one step further with the same hersheys with toffee chips would probably be kick ass.

Just had smores this weekend - no fancy chocolate just hershey's dark and the usual ingredients.

A good technique we used was to get a nice flat rock good and hot in/near the fire and "queue" several graham crackers with chocolate squares on them - by the time they are melty you can make a whole row of smores and then share them or rail them all by yourself.

Ha I left mine on a rock too...but I can't get into them, too messy and sticky....making them is the fun part.

Next time I will try a darker choc.
