StoneMtn
I was just looking at some old music stuff online, and found a picture of an inner sleeve from an album by a punk band called Hype that I ended up on in the mid-80s.Can anyone else spot me? Link (Of course, if you've never met me you probably won't be much help here.)
bradm
At the far-left side of the picture, first head up from the bottom, maybe?Aloha,Brad
StoneMtn
Nope. I actually had a better spot than that (and fairly big hair).
Big Wooly Mammoth
not sure which one you are in the picture, but what is that venue? I'm surprised that I've never heard of the band as I was very much into punk in the early to mid 80s and went to a bunch of shows.
StoneMtn
That was taken at Ildiko's. Before that it was called The Bridge. It was one of the main venues at the time. I was there most weekends from about 85 to 87.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
That pic is too small on this screen to make much out, but I'm still processing the fact that you don't actually look or sound anything like Caveman Lawyer in real life. Velvet
I'll guess you're the top guy on the right of the highest held arm.
Velvet
And I'll add that if the pic was bigger I'd find you for sure. I know of your sordid past and the disguises they entailed.
StoneMtn
I'm basically second row centre, just off to the left, with the brown hair sort of in my face. The guy next to me, on the right (my left when I was there), was my friend Chris, with the spiky blonde hair.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
So now, if I guess correctly, you do pretty much the same sort of thing, except it's juries and judges on the stage - or, is it the other way around? I'm confused. The bouncers' jobs are the same, I'm thinking.

StoneMtn
Actually, Velvet, I think you were right. I was looking at a different guy, who I thought you meant.Winner! And EvilMouse, the main difference between that photo and what I do now in Court is that I take far more abuse now. Big Wooly Mammoth
That was taken at Ildiko's. Before that it was called The Bridge. It was one of the main venues at the time. I was there most weekends from about 85 to 87.I never actually heard of the place. while we are musical reminiscing...I frequented places like The Turning Point, Larry’s Hideaway, Beverly Tavern, Rivoli, Horseshoe, Cameron House, Cabana RoomI grabbed that list from here I also remember seeing Black Flag at the Party Room, which was on Jarvis, just north of Queen IIRC (near the Record Peddler) above some pawn shops. I didn't see that many local bands though. Mostly touring acts. I went to a few hardcore Sundays at Larrys (my favourite venue of the time). The only local bands that I recall seeing a few times are bunchofuckingoofs, teenage head, deja voodoo
StoneMtn
Well here's another interesting anecdote...Steve Goof (real name Steve Johnston) from the Bunchofuckingoofs is my cousin.Based on the stuff you saw, I'm surprised you were never at Ildiko's. Lots of small bands played there, but also touring acts. I saw DRI there, Scream, Dag Nasty, SNFU, and lots of others.
