bouche
Anyone ever cut pipes and shit? Ms.Hux roped me into a project to replace our disgusting laundry tub/beer cooler with a new one but when we went to line up the drain we realized that the pipe was custom lined up to the old shit one. I know nothing about plumbing (shhh...don't tell her) and just figured out how to turn off the water and take out the old taps and basin tonight. we have to obviously call it quits until we've got some essential pipe cutting tools and some pieces to run it where we want. The original main pipe is metal and the trap is PVC. I think we just need to cut it by the current elbow which looks to be about 45 degrees, then I guess measure out how far to run it, pop another 45 degree fitting in there and we're lined up. does that sound like something I should know how to do? What are the essentials? Hack saw, and beer?

bouche
why do they sell this shit to plumbing newbies? we've got 1 and a half feet of water in our basement now and it's slowly rising. I can't find the shut off valve and abbey can't swim.
headymamamyrna
Maybe you should turn off all your water until you get this sorted out.

traveler
You could use flexible drain pipe and some clamps to solve this problem.

It either takes a home improvement project or something Videogame related to see you in these parts Thanks for the offer man. I think we're good. Ms.Hux's Dad is an all-you-can-do-it wizard and told us exactly how to do this. We need to hook metal pipe up to PVC so there is a special compression fixture that we have to get. Good to know! I found it pretty funny when I realized that I have never been involved in any plumbing other than defrosting frozen pipes or unclogging a drain.
