The Chameleon
I'll gladly miss it.You are both nuts. Look I was like you and thought that Rush was questionable. But I saw them at the ACC this fall and I was made a believer. Amazing show and killer musicians.Great show.
Jaimoe
Rush are undoubtedly great musicians, but they jumped the shark with Signals, a good album, but it signaled (no pun intended) their decline. One thing that bugs me about hard-core Rush fans is their militant defense of latter era Rush albums. Every core Rush fan that I've met (and there's lots of you) thinks early 80's to now albums are as good as their stuff from Rush's peak period. I thought my fucking co-worker was going to take an ill-advised swing at me because I thought Test For Echo wasn't as good as Moving Pictures. Fucking fat fucker. I'd beat his head in with my All The World's A Stage CD.
Hal Johnson
- This music...- Rush is a very good band.Their music is very complex, and the perfection...I'm not saying they're not talented, and, yeah, they rock...but it's not the only musicout there.- I've got a John Denver record.- I'm serious.Anyway, I like them. They rock, man. There's a whole world out there.People are having fun.We should be going to parties...getting drunk, getting laid...being wild. The last time we went to a partywe got our asses kicked.Maybe we should haveour own parties.- How about we turn this off...- Don't touch my stereo, Bob.Give me a chance.- Got this from a guy I know in L.A.- You know a guy in L.A.?Shh!You tell meif this doesn't rock. This isn't anything.Just give it a chance. What is it?- What is it?- Yeah, what is it, Bob?It's new. Basher
Yeah, I'm not one for novelty vocals, and Lee's whines fall in that category for me.
NewRider
it falls into the "Someone is stepping on my nads" category for me.
Jaimoe
I don't like Neil's lyrics. They may be thought-provoking at times, but mostly his overy wordy lyrics aren't musically inclined. I have this image of Geddy getting lyrics dropped off for him for the first time and he goes "How the fuck am I going to sing this?"
Booche
One thing that bugs me about hard-core Rush haters is their militant defense of their hatred.
NewRider
In no way am I militant of my Rush hatred. If you dig it, cool. If you think like me and think that listening to Rush is like sitting in a pool of your own feces and piss then right on! Live and let live! Jaimoe
I wonder if Geddy will give up his "better than Basher's" Jays seats when Rush hits the road this tour?
Jaimoe
I like every Rush album up to Moving Pictures. I dislike almost everything after Signals, although some songs after MP are pretty good here and there.
Hal Johnson
I only like the rap in the middle of "Roll the Bones".
Kanada Kev
I go for the live act. I completely understand how some feel about their newer material. That's the same with many bands. I also understand peoples' dislike for Geddy's voice. I also understand this for some people with The Hip, Neil Young, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Phish, etc.I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong at all, it's just that Rush is "one of those bands". MarcO
I like that period from "Permanent Waves" through "Grace Under Pressure". Nice, lean playing, you could tell their ears were on the likes of The Police and such emerging new-wave bands and they adjusted accordingly but not so far that they betrayed their audience, which makes them pretty damn cool.I think I'd enjoy a Rush show although I can't imagine my ever getting off my ass to go to one. Loved them growing up.
