Basher Posted April 22, 2008 Report Share Posted April 22, 2008 Toronto JazzFest Expands Apr 21, 2008 05:37 PMAshante InfantryEntertainment ReporterThe 22nd edition of the TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival will feature 10 more venues and a diverse group of musicians.Having earlier announced that Al Green would kick-off the ten day, twelve night event, organizers unveiled the participation of several other exciting vocalists — Lizz Wright, Susan Tedeschi, Salif Keita, The Blind Boys of Alabama and Ernestine Anderson — at the line-up event at The Pilot Tavern Monday.And enthralling keyboardists Renee Rosnes, Cyrus Chestnut, Geri Allen, Dr. John, Bill Charlap join the elite group of pianists — Dave Brubeck, Ahmad Jamal, Michel Legrand and Oliver Jones — already announced for the Grandmasters series.Returnees from last year include trumpeter Roy Hargrove, guitarists Mike Stern and John Scofield, while bluesman John Hammond and French bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons make their first appearances.Full schedule and ticket information at www.torontojazz.com.
