phishtaper
and on this, when the dog does pee or poo outside, praise her. our dog will pee and poo on command now because of the repetative positive reinforcement over the years. ... especially useful during those rainy, gotta-take-the-dog-out-one-last-time before we go to bed nights. Ms Zimmy
So Meggo, whats the name? I keep hoping that you'll be outside when I walk by almost everyday. I wanna see her.
meggo
yep we always praise her when she goes outside. ms z., it seems like we have settled on banjo, after all that! i really enjoyed seeing all the name suggestions, but there wasn't really one we could agree on other than banjo. plus we already told the neighbours that. hmmmmm.... we did move in march, did you know that? we're not on gilmour anymore, we're on irving [between preston and parkdale]. we are outside with her a lot so if you're ever in that area take a look down the street! phishtaper
hang a small bell by the back door. whenever you take the dog out to pee, ring the bell. make a game of it and get the dog to ring it too. after a couple of weeks, you will hear the dog ringing the bell on her own, telling you she has to go out ... but be careful, the smart ones also ring it to trick you into taking them outside to play even if they dont need to pee.
