Davey Boy 2.0
From ESPN Soccernet:Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos will continue his summer spending spree with a triple swoop for David Villa, Andrei Arshavin and Vedran Corluka, according to reports in the UK press. However, if Spurs want to secure all three deals they will have to stump up another £60million, having already spent £40million on five players during the transfer window. The Sun claim that Tottenham are ready to smash the British transfer record with a sensational £32million swoop for Valencia striker Villa and will fund the bid with the sale of want-away striker Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United for £30million.Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Spanish international, who helped La Rojas win Euro 2008, but Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo insists his client is keen to head to the Premier League.'David likes London and likes how Spurs play under Ramos. If they present an offer, Valencia will seriously study the subject,' Tamargo said.If the deal goes through Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will make the striker the club's top earner with a huge £100,000-a-week deal.Meanwhile, The Independent claim Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Arshavin is on his way to White Hart Lane after the Russian club lowered their asking price of £21million.Tottenham have offered £15.6m for Arshavin but, having banked around £20m for Robbie Keane could easily increase their offer to an acceptable level.Arshavin has told Zenit that he wants to leave and the Russian club's president Alexander Dyukov is due to meet with the player's agent, Dennis Lachter, in Madrid to discuss the Russia international's future. The 28-year-old forward has rejected an improved contract offer from Zenit and although the £50,000-a-week deal at Tottenham is not the most lucrative on offer Arshavin still wants to move to London.Spurs boss Ramos is also set to boost his defence with the £6.8 million capture of Croatian international Corluka from Manchester City, according to The Times. The continuing fitness concerns about captain Ledley King and the erratic form of Michael Dawson means a defender is a high priority for Tottenham.Although Corluka played as a right-back at Eastland's last season Ramos views the versatile defender as a long term central-defensive partner for Jonathan Woodgate.Spurs have been very busy rebuilding the side this summer under former Seville coach Ramos: England's David Bentley, Croatian star Luka Modric, PSV keeper Gomes, Barcelona's Giovanni Dos Santos and Crystal Palace starlet John Bostock have already joined the club. Davey Boy 2.0
Mikaël Silvestre, the long-serving Manchester United defender, is on the verge of foregoing a testimonial season at Old Trafford to become the club's first player to be sold to Arsenal for 34 years.Arsène Wenger instigated the move yesterday after learning that the former France international had been holding talks with Manchester City and Sunderland. Silvestre had provisionally agreed a move to City before contacting the club yesterday to apologise and say he could not resist the opportunity to work for Wenger, to live in London and be involved in the Champions League.Paris St Germain had also offered the 31-year-old a contract but Silvestre informed Wenger last night that Arsenal were his first choice and, if everything goes according to plan, the deal will be concluded in time for him to make his debut at Fulham on Saturday. The move is expected to cost Arsenal in the region of £750,000 and will represent one of the biggest transfer shocks of the summer given United's usual reluctance to do business with any of their major rivals and the fact Ferguson has never allowed a player of his to defect to Wenger's side. Brian Kidd was the last United player to go in the same direction, in 1974, and Silvestre would have been entitled to a testimonial had he stayed at Old Trafford one more season.Another surprise for Arsenal's fans is that Wenger does not regard the former Internazionale defender merely as a squad player, or as a back-up for Gaël Clichy at left-back, but as a first-choice centre-half alongside William Gallas, primarily as a replacement for Philippe Senderos. City had been the first club to approach Silvestre and their failure to pull it off represents a major disappointment for Mark Hughes after his difficult start to life as Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor.City's problems were compounded yesterday when it emerged they were the subject of a possible Fifa inquiry into claims that they had failed to pay some of the money they allegedly owe in the £8m signing of the Brazilian international midfielder Elano Blumer from Shakhtar Donetsk. Davey Boy 2.0
Spurs in trouble, ollie. Berbs is bad for the lockeroom, ManU knows this full well, can wait it out til the last moment then Spurs will be scrambling to replace him, keane and jenas.Juande to be the first manager to get the boot? All these troubles seem to have started just when ollie chose to support them, which leads one to wonder- is there an ollie curse?Let's see: -Sens: cupless since ollie started supporting them -Spurs: on a downward spiral since ollie started supporting them -Roughriders: folded since ollie took an interest -Buffalo Bills: well ollie's Jim Kelly shirt doesn't see much action anymore... ollie
What's going on with Jenas now?ManU needs Berbatov as much as Spurs need to get rid of him. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.

ollie
I'll take 1-1 at Chelsea, especially after how bad Spurs looked in the 1st. It's only a point but you gotta start somewhere. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on the season. Modric looked more involved than the previous two matches. And Bent finally scored. Davey Boy 2.0
that's a really great result for Spurs and the rest of the pack as well.Loving how Man City beat the chavs to sign Robinho. Interesting days there with the takeover and whatnot. From the sounds of it they're going to have a lot of resources at their disposalfacking berbs available to fergie for the liverpool game, and Pool without Stevie G, MBE and El Nino.
