Hal Johnson
I ask you good skanks, is the new Ontario Driver's lisence on it's own enough to get through the border? I've heard it is, but am slightly skeptical. Please advise,Thanks in advance,Hal
AD
enhanced ontario, bc, quebec and manitoba driver's licence is good to go across the border by land or water - passport is required when flying.ah, and i found a doc to back that up: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/media/release-communique/2009/2009-06-01-eng.html Edited June 2, 2009 by Guest whatwhat
Birdy
I don't know... i just read this article:http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2009/05/05/drivers-licence.html that was published May 5th, talking about an 'enhanced' license. I thought the new license that I already have is the 'enhanced' license. But mine doesn't have a protective sleeve to block hackers! Hal Johnson
Dang, I have no protective sleeve either. Oh well, I bet it's still easier/less time consuming to get the enhanced lisence over a passport anyway. Thanks guys.
Birdy
It's actually not too hard to get a passport. If you go to this website: http://www.pptc.gc.ca/form/index.aspx and fill out on the online form, then print it off (it prints off with a barcode at the top) and take it in to the passport office - it's actually pretty simple. then you don't have to worry about hackers, and you're good to go to any country. Kanada Kev
It's simple to get a passport now. There are so many options for getting a guarantor to sign it, printing out online forms, etc. Having to go and get a photo is the most time consuming.I did my daughter's a few weeks ago. Dropped of the form and payment at the office in Hamilton (don't go to the one in downtown Toronto). Walked in and out in less than 10mins. Passport arrived less than 2 weeks later. You can also just mail it in if you have the time. They have extra staff for the crunch right now and they are reporting no delays at all. AD
if you drop off the application at your MP's office it goes in a different and faster queue, plus you don't have to pay for postage.
