Guest Low Roller
The night before his death, Michael Jackson did a full rehearsal of his upcoming London show, and it was recorded in HD video and audio. There is already talk of having it released on DVD....Also, it was revealed by Queen guitarist whatshisname that MJ and Freddie Mercury recorded some tracks together that were never released, but that might surface now.Let the profiteering commence!!! Davey Boy 2.0
'The concert promoters for Michael Jackson's planned shows at the O2 Arena in London today offered fans the option of a "specially created" souvenir ticket rather than a refund. AEG Live said full refunds were available for all legitimately bought tickets, but suggested some fans of the singer, who died on Thursday, would prefer to receive a ticket "inspired and designed by Michael Jackson for the fans" and made with a "special lenticular process". They are not able to have both. "Since he loved his fans in life, it is incumbent upon us to treat them with the same reverence and respect after his death," Randy Phillips, the president and chief executive of AEG Live, said' - The Guardian
phishtaper
perhaps there is a god afterall ... AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) is owned by Philip Anschutz, a creationist, homophobic, right-wing conservative oil and gas billionaire who was one of dubya's biggest supporters. he stands to lose tens of millions in all of this. phishtaper
it will be interesting to see how ownership of this video plays out in the courts. it appears to be a rather remarkable recording of a remarkable performer. curious, i googled the best selling dvd and discovered it is Finding Nemo which has sold over 40 million dvd's. the jackson recording could easily surpass this and could quite possibly gross well over a billion dollars - especially if it was released theatrically first. this video could prove to be the single most valuable asset in the jackson estate - if it turns out he owns it.
