bouche
no, you're not THAT special. I've always enjoyed the stuff and wondered why there was no meat in this shit. It seems that I've never had true mincemeat. Maybe I should take a shot at this traditional recipe.
Ms.Huxtable
I'm not sure I've ever tried it.
rubberdinghy
Yes...it is delicious...I find alot of people have eaten it but don't realize they have....Also...not sure I've eaten one with beef in it, but I know it's had suet in it. fluffhead77
I'm on the fence really. Been eating mincemeat tarts since I was old enough to remember. My old man makes them every year along with the requisite brandy butters to accompany. Most people seem to rave over his, but I'm not convinced that I'm fully into it... bouche
ok, to settle the debate, I'm going to make a traditional meat pie with the meat and suet and see what it's like.

rubberdinghy
It depends on what recipe you look at mamamyrna....According to Wiki, the original recipe dating back 300 years or whatever contained beef and suet.

This sounds like weird shit but I think it must be good. It was a tradition way before our traditional sugary versions. Savory and sweet go together in ways that we can't comprehend sometimes.
