Truffle Oil

Was at the cheese store in St. Lawrence market the other week and the guy behind the counter recognized my constant and undying commitment to flavour. He recommended a little truffle oil on mypopcorn for the above average foodie style movie time snack.

Haven't picked any up yet, but wondered if anyone here had tried it?

It's super expensive for the real stuff, but I've had good luck with this pseudo-truffle oil I found at the grocery. It's "Truffles and Porcini Mushroom Infused Oil" and it's delicious. Definitely not the same as real truffle oil but usually good enough if you're not willing to spend the big bucks.

We have a bottle of truffle oil in our cupboard. I am going to try that!

Thought I'd point out our new favorite salad dressing to you as well. This stuff will melt your knees.

This recipe is by Chef Scott Adams of Benny's Bistro. Taught to us at a raw cooking class at Urban Element, Ottawa.

1/4 cup white balsamic

I still haven't found the truffle cheese. i'll look harder this weekend.

The international cheese shop in the market has a truffle brie. I haven't found one fitting the description of the sheep milk cheese though. I remember seeing it last spring at the Nicastro's in the market so perhaps it's seasonal.
