AD Posted September 21, 2010 Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 i'm glad shad didn't win and i was really surprised that so many people picked him for the win. i don't hear much substance in his rhymes. too much searching for a witty couplet and not enough storytelling. the old prince was much better than tsol, imo. They were great, but the best performances were by Dan Managan, Broken Social Scene, Tegan & Sarah, Owen Pallett, Karkwa and Caribou.It was a surprising pick, i think though that it was great that an relatively unknown band won - sort of makes the event feel like it's not a popularity contest, but a true pick of great art.Each band who performers, said that they were just happy to be chosen and felt that it was a good celebration of Canadian music. I felt the same. The event was at the Concert Hall, aka The Masonic Temple... what a great space.. i really hope they start using that place for more concerts!
